My favorite part of that whole debacle was people trying to change the narrative that it wasn’t about the American flag, but Kaepernick’s first words of his first quote after doing it the first time were “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a FLAG for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” so it sure as hell sounds to me like it was about disrespecting the flag.
