James Carville said Democrats started their '7th string quarterback' by running Kamala Harris

Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville compared Democrats running former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election to starting a "7th string quarterback" in the Super Bowl, in an interview with PBS' Margaret Hoover on Friday.

"We ran a presidential election, if we were playing a Super Bowl, we started our 7th string quarterback. That's what happened, okay?," said Carville on "Firing Line." "You can't address a problem unless you're honest about a problem."

The Democratic strategist continued by noting that Democratic voters would've been enthralled to have a presidential candidate that could "actually complete a sentence."

They were in a lose lose situation. Run Biden and get blown out by Trump in Historic fashion. Run Kamala and maybe not lose as badly. When Biden dropped out Kamala was the only person who could run in order to get the campaign funds already raised.

I doubt anyone should listen to him now, but someone has to take the blame, since Harris is not doing it, someone has to do it for her, since she is over anyway.

That is the use of people like this, say these things, it is not like people would remember he had no credibility.

Yeah, he's full of shit. Biden effectively prevented any viable replacement other than the VP. The time for Biden to bow out was a year before. The die was cast. That's no knock against Harris, she ran a nice campaign, under the circumstance. Americans wanted a fascist, they got one. Carry on.
