When asked how she will deal with rising costs, Harris responds by saying that she will go after grocery store price gouging.

For crying out loud, she's really said that. Forget about inflation, she'll go after retailers!

Grocery stores make about 1-3% profit margin. Anyone want to guess that if Harris tried to regular "price gouging", grocery stores would just find it easier to close weak locations? And then would she start complaining about "food deserts"?

Just look at Walmart share price, it doubled from 5 years ago, so I think there is definitely price gouging.

But I am pretty sure democrats are not going to do anything about it, they had the past 4 years to do something and they did not, why would they start now?

Of course republicans won't even say something about that, other than it is the fault of democrats.

Whoever you elect, things aren't going to change, at least not grocery prices, they are not going to come down.

Accept that, and move on.

Share price can rise for any number of reasons, and price gouging seems like one of the last reasons. For example, simply but cutting costs (e.g. using more self-checkout systems, more efficient stocking, etc.), profits can rise, and investments may follow.

I think the real culprit is inflation, which is actually caused by the government printing of money, which then makes things more expensive. However, it's easier for politicians to blame faceless corporations than to blame themselves.

It sounds like she would institute emergency price caps on products.

Yeah, which very well may mean that stores will no longer be able to sell those products at all because they will lose money on them. It will only end badly.
