Anyone have any examples? She'd had almost four years in office, and more years in the Senate.
Why would anyone vote for her given that she has failed to lead when given power? In fact, her time addressing the border did effectively nothing. Why give her even more power?
While in office, Trump was up against pretty much the entirety of the political class. Yet, he still managed to help get tax cuts passed, nominate some great judges, prevent us from getting into more wars, etc.
And denied or downplayed the coronavirus because he "didn't want people to panic." Say what you will about the political adversity he faced, he's still nobody from whom to seek leadership.
What in the world does that mean? Kind of unbelievable that you're playing Monday morning quarterback with COVID. Our entire country was shut down. Do you think it was bad not wanting people to panic?
I'm referring to the conversations he had with Bob Woodward (which Woodward recorded) in which Trump intimated that he was downplaying the real danger he KNEW Covid posed because he didn't want people to panic. So he lied/misrepresented the threat because he preferred to treat the American people like four-year-olds. That wasn't leadership. The American people needed to hear the truth from their president so that they could have better defended themselves against getting covid. Trump should have told us of the importance of masking and social distancing since we did not have any vaccines at that point instead of minimizing coronavirus and being all cavalier about wearing a mask. People needlessly got sick and died because Trump didn't level with them based upon what he privately understood the threat to be.
To be fair, someone like Kamala would probably say the same thing. She seems like the reassuring type too often and largely miscalculates the danger of disasters.
I'm voting against Kamala ( I don't admit to who I'm voting for in public ), but I do believe Trump downplayed COVID and could have prevented thousands of deaths if he would have shown leadership by wearing a mask and relaying the seriousness of the pandemic. He didn't want the economy to suffer on his watch.
He was too vain to wear a mask. It was very rare that he wore a mask, and didn't start encouraging the public to mask up until July 2020, after 100,000 deaths.
He said in February, 2020 " we will have this under control by Easter. It will be our Easter miracle". He could not have been more wrong.
Thank you, davebuffalo, for these additional facts concerning Trump's handling (or mishandling) of COVID. It's disconcerting how short our memories are when you think that coronavirus came to this country no more than five years ago. Except for the very few who were alive during the Spanish flu following WWI, COVID-19 was the first time anyone ever experienced a global pandemic. COVID taught us that such a thing could happen during our lifetimes - and that it could happen again.
I, for one, don't want Trump in office during another public health crisis like COVID. I hope something like this never occurs again, but if G-d forbid it does, I'd trust Kamala Harris to be a leader and do as much as anybody could as president to limit cases of illness and death.
I'll take my chances that we won't suffer another pandemic under Trump 2025-2028. I am sick of Open Borders. We need a Republican president to finish the damn wall. Even if we have to pay for it.
It was ironic that during the term of a president so closely associated with closed borders, COVID managed to make its way into our country. I am probably the opposite of you when it comes to immigration, but if there was one time I would have liked to see closed borders, travel bans, and full-on quarantining, it have been in late 2019-early 2020. We may have avoided coronavirus entirely in this country if we had done that. Australia had a policy like that and while they did not manage to avoid it entirely, that continent did remarkably well at limiting COVID in light of its size and population.
I agree Trump was horrible in overall handling of the virus, but one thing he did, that No Democrat President ever would have done, was suspend International flights to China. Remember? No way would a Democrat ever do such a thing. He was immediately criticized by the left as being "racist" and "xenophobic".
While it's impossible to predict which of a Biden / Trump / Harris presidency would have resulted in fewer fatalities, I do think more virus would have come into the country under a Democrat president. But I do think Trump caused it to spread more once it arrived.
I seem to recall that Trump used travel bans to punish countries he did not favor (or those that did not favor him). China happened to be one of those countries. But there were other countries - with plenty of incidence of COVID - for which imposed no travel ban at all. I would like to think that Biden and Harris would have imposed suspensions on flights to/from China as well as every other international location. Or they could do what Australia did and require a testing/quarantine period in secure facilities before travelers were cleared through customs. Highly inconvenient, but effective at containing any cases of coronavirus. I think if Harris/Biden established a policy like that where the bans were in place for any and every country around the world, they would have been insulated from any criticism/ suspicion prejudice/discrimination - especially if we enjoyed the mild-to-non-existent COVID rates Australia experienced.
Maybe the mask wasn't a cure-all but it can't hurt. Maybe it doesn't completely prevent transmission of the virus, but it lessons the quantity of germs, that's undeniable.
I wonder why: Fauci doesn't want people to worry about coronavirus, the danger of which is "just minuscule." But he does want them to take precautions against the "influenza outbreak, which is having its second wave."
Are you suggesting that the BBC News lied to support Trump:
"This is a significant drop, but not the largest reduction in history.
The US Census Bureau has published this poverty data since the end of the 1950s. The largest fall in a single year was in 1966 during the administration of President Lyndon B Johnson, when almost 4.7 million people were lifted out of poverty." https://www.bbc.com/news/world-45827430
Your joke doesn't make sense. If you wanted to indicate she only shows leadership skills in bed you should have said something like 'sitting on a dick with her right hand constricting the man's windpipe.'
Chances are, you're never gonna get a straight answer from the left-wingnuts on here, because they don't have one for a question like that. Either that, or the media has manufactured fake answers for them to chant back at you, despite them being bald-faced lies.
