It's in the genes? That's rubbish. You grow up with it. You're taught it. Even my wife who is Scottish has a different Scottish accent than her parents. She grew up in Edinburgh, while her parents come from Glasgow. And if you know anything of Scottish accents, you know there's a great variety. There's not just 'generic Scottish'. But Rose Leslie herself didn't grow up in Scotland. She mostly grew up in England and said herself she lost her Scottish accent in an interview I just watched. No, I noticed myself and she confirmed that she's doing a Northern English accent in both Downton Abbey and Game of Thrones. (Yorkshire, Manchester).
