Should Zelensky simply cede territories to Russia so...

... we can all have our central heating blazing all day, every day over the winter period?

Is it a price worth paying?

reply

no

reply

Perhaps where one lives would influence this response.

reply

Where do you live?

reply

In an apartment. Very cold...

reply

Well it all depends on where you live I guess. I'm in south Florida so we don't worry about having heat in the winter

reply

Sounds good...all of us living in bleak winter shitholes (Ireland in my case) should be moved to tropical climes. I've a hankering for Hawaii..it's the only way to win the war. I promise I'll go back when it's over...honest.

reply

Ever heard that you should never negotiate with terrorists?

reply

Correct, and you should never offer the devil even the little finger.

reply

That is a dumb slogan that only applies when the person saying it is in an extremely advantaged position.

reply

What would it make to have a gun on someone's head, then?

reply

Explain more better

reply

What leverage do you think terrorists have? "Please, can we get..."

reply

The force aspect , if a man is being robbed he can raise his head up high and refuse to hand over his wallet but the thief "no different than a terrorist" will just shoot him and take the wallet anyway. The history of the world is negotiating with terrible people, look at the Saudi situation now or deals with Stalin in the 40s.
A person with 10 armed guards can say he does not negotiate with thieves, but if the thieves outnumber him by 100 he's going to be negotiating with thieves.

A WMD disciple I suppose.

The time for that is passed.

What would be cede that Russia has not already taken.

The fact is that the US and NATO planned this for many years ... proven by Angela Merkel.

Russia realizes now that the Minsk accords were a delaying tactic for war while the West armed and trained Ukraine, and that the West never intended to live up to them.

Now, why would Russia make any peace deal with the West, or actually the US, when we lie and never live up to any agreement we make. So, the end game for Russia is to disarm Ukraine, destroy Ukrainian infrastructure so they are so busy rebuilding they do not have the time or resources to build up for another attack on the Donbas, and remove the Nazi/Nationalists/Banderaites from power and kill as many as possible to secure the new Russian borders.

Russian did not want these lands. The Minsk agreements were about having Donbas declared autonomous regions - OR UKRAINE, and trying to neutralize Ukraine. The West was working to arm and train Ukraine to attack the Donbas to ethnically cleanse and genocide the ethnic Russians.

When this is understood widely, Zlelensky is responsible for all of this - hundreds of thousands of lives, and a broken country - that is about 20% or more smaller and has no access to the sea. That is what Russia is going to aim for since it must trust only in their military to protect their interests - not any treaty with the West.

reply

From what I understand - that's not really an option for Zelensky. There are certain internal and external entities which want this war to go on. Zelensky's life is on the line. It is also why he did not adhere to the Minsk agreement -
It may also be why when he asks for help, he demands, rather than requests it. I think Zelensky is now in a very tough spot and the whole country will burn because of it.

Historically though, I'd say that most wars were fought between leaders using citizens as their cannon fodder. If you understand this bit, you will do everything to leave the country involved in this war. Very few people understand this though. When the war began, I told my Ukrainian friends to leave, but they replied that they must defend their country. When I said that their husbands will be forced to go to the frontlines - they said that this is normal during a time of war.

I do not hold allegiance to any nation, but I do recall that when I was young, I was a believer in national unity, patriotism, pride, etc. Most people around the world still hold those beliefs, so using them as cannon fodder is a rather simple affair.

reply

Please tell me what country you're from.
Easy prey.

reply

It should be easy, it's in my name, ain't it?
Born in the former soviet union, migrated to Canada - now living in Asia.
Oh, and I'm not vaccinated ;)

reply

Neither "maximmm" nor Asia are countries.
And you should leastwise get a tetanus shot.

reply

I was referring specifically to covid shots.
Maxim is a name.
Asia is where I currently reside - my passport is Canadian.

reply

I didn't.
Yep, Maxim is a name, not a country.

reply

Speaking of which - where are you from?

reply

I currently reside in Europe.

reply

And you are a passport holder of which country?

reply

Oh dear...

It's a powerful tool.

Whether you subscribe to conspiracy theories or not, most people at a minimum would concede that the US was involved in the Ukraine long before any hostilities broke out. For what purpose?

And now we have a situation whereby those with heavy investments in the arms and energy industries with be profiting very nicely from the current situation and, as you may have been alluded to, have nothing to gain by the war ending any time soon.

With regards to unity, pride, etc and the common people - I do find it funny that while some will profit (as mentioned above) very well from the conflict, the humanitarian bill of helping the Ukrainian people is picked up the average man, with notations of "solidarity with Ukraine" being played for donations, etc.

reply

Yep, that's pretty outrageous, while Ukrainians fight for their freedom and their lives.
Ukrainians get looted, tortured, raped and executed without any reason.
But who cares as long as our central heating is warm enough.

reply

Is it freedom if you can't leave the country if you are a male? It would appear that Ukraine was always going to be someone's puppet - either Russia's or USA's. Currently, Ukraine is fighting for its right to be USA's puppet, which is not exactly freedom, is it? I can see that you are a nationalist/patriot, hence the rhetoric.
As for their lives - you have to believe that once Russia takes over, it will instigate a genocide - there's no evidence of that.
Alas, according to the western mainstream news, once Russia takes over Ukraine, it will attack the rest of the EU/Japan and basically the rest of the world, which is a hilariously fascinating take on things, yet, that's the current narrative, propagated by Zelensky.

My advice: use your critical thinking skills - avoid corporate, sold out, mainstream media. We live in the 1984 era - gaslighting is the name of the game. If you don't consume the mainstream news media, you are uninformed. If you do consume it, you are misinformed.

reply

Someone here is using common sense.

I've tuned out and blocked all mainstream news media from any feeds.

Digesting that propaganda is unhealthy and they are trying to endear people to notion that nuclear World War III is somehow a good thing.

reply

Yes, I think maximmm is maximummm right.
He argues topics I even didn't mention, fighting straw men. ☺
We should only believe RT (Russia Today) cause that's the lighthouse of truth.
And many Russian males just leave Russia...some are able to flee, voluntarily!
Some need to make bombastic holidays in Ukraine.
Of course, they should bring their own holiday equipment with them.
Wait, wasn't Ukraine attacking Moscow?!...yahhh!...that's how it was!!!
Monsieur Putin constantly threatens with nuclear weapons.
Oh no, that was the jewish Nazi Zelenskyy who invaded innocent Russia, right!
Yah, the true news come from the Russian party headquarters. πŸš©β€‹πŸš©β€‹πŸš©β€‹

reply

As a wondering communist expatriate your opinion gathers no respect let alone consideration.
Currently, which country is making YOU its bitch?

reply

Oh dear - are you on your 10th booster already?

reply

Did you mean to reply to the OP or this one? If it was this one that's a pretty poor response...

reply

Well yeah apparently It is, he's a cute .owing rodent
