do not understand all of the hate....

so I started my own posting. This girl CAN act and was a real bright spot in Magic Mike. I loved the fact that she was the lone responsible one that was seemingly not interested in anything Mike or any of the other male strippers were doing, and I believed her character. The scene where she finds her brother unconscious from drugs and she loses it was heartbreaking and I felt it, thanks to Cody Horn's acting. Not only is she a great actress she is jaw droppingly sexy. In fact, the final shot of her and Mike "wondering what to do for 7 hours" until her favorite breakfast place opens was a weak part of the otherwise interesting film. I did not think her character would EVER be interested in anyone like Mike. Thank God it was the last scene of the film. I liked Magic Mike BECAUSE of Cody Horn, among the other acting from McConaughey, Alex Pettyfer, Channing Tatum, and Olivia Munn. It's not a movie I would seek out but it was on HBO and I came into the film about 20 minutes into it and became interested in the characters. But the hate that has been shown here on IMDB for Cody Horn I simply do not understand. There are actors and actresses out there I think are not very good at acting but I have never said some of the things that have been said, here about Cody Horn. Jai Courtney of Jack Reacher and A Good Day To Die Hard is a perfect example. He might be a great actor but so far I am not impressed. Maybe it is the scripts or the parts are thankless. Whatever the reason, I will say he needs major improvement. Cody, on the other hand is gorgeous, sexy, talented and seemingly smart (granted I don't know her personally, obviously). My understanding is that there is a sequel planned. I hope Cody returns and has an even bigger part. I'll accept the premise she will be with Mike. Damn it!

Bless you, you should be president of her fan club, because you are obviously seeing something that no one else is.

There was absolutely nothing about her character or performance that sold me on the fact that the Mike character would fall so hard for her. All she did was judge and whine. Perhaps in the hands of a better actress it would have been somewhat believable, but she has absolutely no spark on screen and there was zero chemistry between them. The relationship between Mike and Joanna was far more interesting.

I wondered how on earth she managed to get cast in a Steven Soderbergh film. Now that I know who her father is, I get it. Daddy is obviously very powerful for this girl to have a career at all.

Thank you for at least being civil, even though we seem to disagree. At least you are calm, cool and nice in your disagreement and I really appreciate that. You and I can agree to disagree and still part as friends, so to speak. I really appreciate your opinion even though we disagree. Cody sort of had a thankless role, since she was the lone character as the responsible one trying to hold everything together. I will agree that I also liked the relationship between Mike and Joanna. Their dialogue was well written and the acting by everyone in this film was standout. I was surprised at how much I liked Magic Mike, overall. It was late and I had just gotten home from a long night at work and sat down with some hot tea to relax. Channel surfing I came across Magic Mike and found myself watching. Channing Tatum, like Cody Horn, has taken some lumps for his acting but he is actually better in dramas where he speak without CGI explosions. Overall, he has gotten much better as an actor. I still love Cody Horn's acting in Magic Mike.
But I really appreciate your response and the fact you were not hateful. I am adding you as a friend on IMDB and would love to talk back and forth about films. We can agree or agree to disagree. Either way it would be fun, if you wanted to.
I watched Dead Man Down last night with Colin Farrell and Noomi Rapace. I was excited and it was an decent film, however the pacing seemed to sputter through the middle section of the film. I loved Noomi as a disfigured lady who blackmails a mob enforcer to seek revenge on the man who disfigured her. Wondered if you have seen it and what you thought of it.

But I really appreciate your response and the fact you were not hateful. I must say I have never seen the vitriolic hate spewed forth by others on IMDB over movies, so your response was refreshing. it's not hate but an observation, she is probably really nice person but she can NOT act

Possibly. But I still stand by my original statement, however, even though you are reasoned in your opinion which is refreshing. We can agree to disagree and still part as friends. Thank you for being rational and nice about it.

I had no idea who she was before Magic Mike but I literally just finished watching it and her performance and the banter her character had with Tatum's character were two of the best things about the movie, imo. I looked her up solely because I enjoyed her presence in the film. Was she incredible... no... but I found her charming despite the fact that the character was a "downer", which she was supposed to be.
