This magnificent band deserves more than just 3 top songs:
1) "Sister Moonshine", 1975
2) "Child of Vision", 1979
3) "Rudy", 1974
4) "Waiting so long", 1982
5) "Fool's Overture", 1977
I will have to check out some of these.
shareI was introduced to Supertramp by hearing their singles and most popular songs on the radio in the 1970s-1980s.
It was only when I bought the albums they originally appeared on that I discovered that their singles and most popular songs (delightful though they may be) are really just hors d'oeuvres to prepare you for the entire meal to follow.
They really are an "album band"!

share1974s Crime Of The Century is on a par with Floyd's Dark Side. Foe me it's a stone cold classic.
Crisis what Crisis is also a great album, slightly more upbeat and guitar based.
Quietest Moments has some good stuff, but you could see the poppier elements creeping in.
After that I lost them a little...the 80s pop hits like logical song and breakfast were a little too commercial for me. But I will say that Supertramps 80s pop hits were far and away superior to similar pop singles of the day.
It all fell apart after that of course. Davies continued with the band with different members , but Hodgson had more success with his solo career. I saw him live lots of times, always a great show. Plays lots of old Supertramp stuff.
Saw him 3 years back in London with a full band playing a lot of the old Supertramp hits, and it was superb.

1) "Give A Little Bit" (kind of stunned no one mentioned it until now...my favorite song from them...sounds great on a 12-string!)
2) "Take The Long Way Home"
3) "It's Raining Again" (nostalgia...one of the first rock songs I remember listening to and really getting into it).
