Anyone else feel that Ezra’s apology is complete $hite

Ezra doesn’t once apologize to the individual/s they physically and or mentally abused, groomed and possibly worse…, “alarmed and upset,” hardly covers it, imo.

“Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,” Miller says. “I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.”

Ezra’s apology is written as if to placate the powers that be into allowing their career to continue without facing the necessary accountability.
Look what happened to Mel and Emile, they were shut down for years and were forced to crawl through the muck to return to being able to land a job/role. Not making excuses for their behavior, they both said and did horrible things, just pointing out, that they at least directly apologized to the individuals they victimized.

Thoughts?

"Thoughts?"

Agreed about Ezra. Disagree about Mel and Emile (I'm guessing you mean Emile Hirsch?). What exactly did they do to atone for their disgraceful behaviour before they were handed more work?

reply

As a starting point, Mel and Emile openly and directly apologized to the individuals they victimized.
And I’m by no means saying that their return was earned, just pointing out Ezra seems to be skating through his loathsome actions nearly scot-free.
And for Ezra to apologize without directly mentioning the people they (referring to Ezra) victimized is a terrible look imo, and says a lot about who they (referring to Ezra) are.

Like I say, I agree about Ezra, which is one of the reasons I'm so sceptical/apathetic about the upcoming Flash film, despite being such a huge DC/Keaton-era Batman fan. Ezra is getting away with so much nonsense, although I do wonder if Hollywood ends up completely ditching them as soon as this film is out of the theaters.

I agree, I’m a huge Michael Keaton fan and was stoked to hear about his return but I am so disappointed in Ezra’s actions combined with their abysmal apology that I probably won’t watch the film.
It will be interesting to see what Hollywood does with them once the film is released. I’m all about second chances but only when their earned.

Totally agreed, especially with that last point.

I also believe in second chances. Not only are they fair, they also motivate people to be better. If we say "That's it. You ain't coming back. Ever" where's the incentive for them to become better people? I mean, there are certain people who don't deserve/merit second chances (i.e. serial rapists, murderers, child molesters and so on), but most people (including, hypothethetically, Ezra) can be forgiven. However, as you say, it has to be *earned*. There has to be some degree of contrition and penance.
