Already receiving backlash for being cast as Cleopatra

Gal Gadot Is Getting Backlash for Starring in New Historical Epic 'Cleopatra'

Reactions to the casting have ranged from positive to outright confusion on social media. While an Egyptian queen, scholars have often identified Cleopatra as someone of Greek ancestry with debates regarding some Persian and Syrian ancestry, too. Gadot is an Israeli actress, and some have raised questions regarding whether she is fit to play the role.

How about they cast someone with North African blood! someone like Sofia Boutella! I’m so sick of casting white actors and Israelis as pharaohs and arab roles! Gal Gadot shouldn’t be Cleopatra.

"How about they cast someone with North African blood!"

How about not, since Cleopstra most likely did not have any North African blood. They should've cast a Macedonian actress, but a Mediterranean-looking type like Gadot would come close enough. Her nose isn't big enough, though.

The nose stuff is extremely easy to fix with some makeup. That's what they did with Depardieu in Cyrano de Bergerac

That would be a good size.

In this day and age you will always find criticism of something if you search for it. Calling this a backlash is a bit much.
