Queen Rania: A 'glaring double standard' in how world treats Palestinians

"Queen Rania of Jordan argued the western world is “complicit” in the casualties in Gaza, pointing to the seemingly widespread support of Israel in its fight against militant group Hamas following the group’s bloody attack against the Jewish State earlier this month.

“This is the first time in modern history that there is such human suffering and the world is not even calling for a cease-fire,” Rania said in an interview with CNN. “So the silence is deafening and to many in our religion, it makes the western world complicit…through their support and through the cover that they give Israel that it’s just right to defend itself.”

Calling the western world’s support of Israel a “glaring double standard,” Rania, who is of Palestinian descent herself, said many in the Arab world perceive the support as “aiding and abetting” the mass killings of civilians in Gaza.

Israel has vowed to destroy Hamas, which is recognized as a terrorist organization by the U.S. and several other countries, and has since launched hundreds of air strikes into Gaza and cut off the territory’s food, water, medicine and fuel supply.

Over 5,700 Palestinians in besieged Gaza have been killed in the conflict, including over 2,300 children, 1,200 women and 295 elderly people, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. Over 16,200 are wounded as hospitals warn of collapse in the wake of low supplies, Gaza officials said Tuesday."

Still waiting on that explanation from you about how I "lost" the argument about Australia. You can either take the time and effort to actually prove me wrong or just admit I was right anytime you want. If you can't do either of those things in the politics forum then perhaps this would be a good place for it.

No. It's not. Use the pm's for your offtopic petty personal bullshit.

hey ! we agree on something!

that dick has spammed many threads with that bullshit.

F her. Every Palestinian taken out today is a threat the civilized world doesn't have to deal with tomorrow.

Hitler had the same attitude about Jews.

BTW, do you feel the same way about Palestinian Christians?

reply

Hitler had the same attitude about Jews.

This is one of the crazy things about this situation and the West's seeming apathy to attempt to avert the ethnic cleansing currently taking place in full view of the entire world.

I didn't grow up in a predominantly Jewish (nor Muslim) country but we were certainly taught - as is still the case today - that we should never forget the horrors of the Holocaust.

Of course, there have been more recent genocides - Cambodia, Rwanda - but the focus has always been on WW2 and the Nazis, with the mantra being that we should never forget the horrors that happened so they can't happen again.

When I was a child, I always thought in disbelief how the holocaust could have happened, how the German people could keep functioning, be part of a country who's leadership was committing such atrocities...

Yet, here we are with the situation right now - over one million people displaced, continually being bombed, and we just sit watching it. Maybe have a look through social media and feel angry but we do nothing. e.g. The Champions League's still on - let's watch that. How's the cricket / rugby world cups getting on? I'm annoyed about the situation but I'll just keeping watching my sports, watching movies, TV, etc...

It matters who started teh war. That is a valid difference in behavior that supports a difference in treatment.

Supporting a ceasefire now, would be allowing Hamas to committ their atrociteis and not pay the price. That would actually be a massive preference in favor of the palestinians.

She can go fuck herself.

Just how you define that really is the question...
