Jennifer Lawrence Tells Adam Sandler Why She’s Rude Fans

https://youtu.be/NqntFonA2iY

“Once I enter a public place, I become incredibly rude. I turn into a huge a–hole,” Lawrence said. “That’s my only way of defending myself.”

The actress attested that comedians, such as her famously friendly pal Amy Schumer, have a harder time refraining from interactions because people “just assume they’re your best friend.”

“I take my dog to the park all the time, to Central Park,” Lawrence said. “As soon as I meet her in the park, we’re f—ed.”

I see where she's coming from. It's the same premise for when you are out at a bar or club with friends and a person keeps trying to talk to you whom you're not interested in. Sometimes being polite yet distant doesn't work, because the person still reads your attitude toward them as you being nice and therefore will continue to hang around and try to converse with you, thus not taking (or acknowledging) the hint that you are trying to politely get away from him/her. Sometimes you really just have to be an a**hole or b*tch to get away from someone. It's not pleasant; however sometimes it's the only thing necessary to get someone to leave you alone.

reply

Exactly. I've heard/read more than one account from a movie star about how building a kind of wall around yourself is a sad necessity for protecting yourself from an intrusive public. Glad at least someone responding to this story has some empathy!

reply

Why is Adam Sandler there

reply

Gross. Karma is a bitch; when she becomes a has-been (and she's already on her way), she might regret being an asshole to the people who helped make her successful.

reply

". . .when she becomes a has-been (and she's already on her way). . ."

Yeah, right. What a deluded nutcase. She just picked up another award today and while she won't even be nominated in my opinion, she's part of the conversation for major awards given her performance in mother!. She sn't going anywhere--get used to it.

reply

Actually, her last few movies have not done well.

"Actually, her last few movies have not done well."

There is more to a career than box office, pumpkin. Even when her movies don't do well, she usually gets high praise.

reply

I don't remember high praise for her performance in the last XMEN movie.

"I don't remember high praise for her performance in the last XMEN movie."

An actor is only as good as the material they are given, and Raven/Mistique continues to be butchered by horrible writing. I just wish she had walked away from that series, because I'm not looking forward to the next one at all.

She got plenty of love from critics for pretty much everything else.

reply

Time will tell. Her most recent films did not do well at all.

reply

She still can kick the Lamas ass

reply

Also Passangers made 300, 000 000 so there!

reply

I enjoyed the movie but it's on every list of 2016 box office flops. It grossed 300 million and the studio splits about half with the theaters, so with a production budget of $110 million plus marketing costs it may not have netted anything or may have lost money.

reply

But thats very not brave strong and true points. A movie with 300 box office cash on a less than cheap budget of 110 would not be considered a bomb because thats 200 million in bonucs cash monies not even accounting for DVD, on Demand, special screeining 3 D tickets and the Boston Supreme ticket

"Time will tell. Her most recent films did not do well at all."

Which had absolutely nothing to do with her. In what possible universe does a movie about the invention of a mop or a Biblical metaphor that assaults the audience with a scene of a baby being murdered and eaten supposed to turn out to be a hit?

She continues to be recognized as one of the greatest actresses of her generation. Box office isn't everything.

reply

Box office is everything to the people who pay for these films to be made. If those people stop believing she is a bankable name, the JLaw market will dry up.

"Box office is everything to the people who pay for these films to be made. If those people stop believing she is a bankable name, the JLaw market will dry up."

No it isn't. It is a fact that studios every year make some movies just for prestige and recognition, knowing they will either lose money or not make much, but will look fantastic as a legacy. mother! was just such a movie. They stay alive by balancing those flicks with more commercial fare.

Talent is always going to get work, and she is a top tier talent. That's just a fact. All box office will effect is her paycheck, not her getting work.

She's going to be around as long as she wants to be. Get used to it.

reply

Again, time will tell. The only real metrics we have to work with show nothing but a downward trend.

reply

"The only real metrics we have to work with show nothing but a downward trend."

That's only if you think box office success is the only metric that counts. It isn't. Sorry, but the facts just aren't on your side. Get used to it.

reply

It's a business, so ultimately it's the only one that counts. An occasional underperforming film made primarily for artistic reasons is one thing, but repeated failures with large budget films are another.

Look I think she is a good actress. I liked Passengers, whatever it did at the box office. My original point was and remains that she is an odious, ungrateful person who may soon regret that behavior.

reply

"It's a business, so ultimately it's the only one that counts."

You obviously have no understanding of how this business works. Good actors get work regardless of whether their movies are big hits. Whether their movies are huge box office success only effects their pay checks. That's it. Streep is going to have a movie out every year even if each one loses money. That's how it works.

"My original point was and remains that she is an odious, ungrateful person who may soon regret that behavior."

Only an idiot with no regard to the facts would think this--obviously you are the sort of person who looks at headlines and doesn't bother with the details.

She has repeatedly stated how grateful she is for her fans. Repeatedly. Remember the time she broke through the barricade at a red carpet event to hug and chat with a disabled girl? Probably you don't. Are you aware of her annual visits to children's hospitals? Probably not.

Her point in this interview is that when she is not working and on on her own time, she doesn't like being interrupted by people asking for selfies and likes to be left alone, so she remains aloof and cold to dissuade people intruding on her. Pretty much every famous movie star will tell you that this is a necessity of the life. She's just more blunt about it. So please, get a clue.

reply

I'm impressed. It usually takes you less time to devolve into name calling.
