shareThe whole "I'm not ready to be famous I'm a normal person" thing got old when she made fun of a non-English speaker after an Awards show. It wasn't so much that it was douchey, she was probably just fucking around and it was an honest mistake, but it made it abundantly clear (as it should have been already) that she wasn't as down-to-earth as she thought she was, and she's a powerful person who can bully people if she's not careful.share
Her shtick (the girl next door whose a celebrity) just stopped working. She managed the impossible feat of being cute and relateable after three Oscar nominations; four was just pushing it.
She hasn't really made a good movie since Days of Future Past. The Hunger Games two-parter kind of sucked and brought to a close the chapter of her life that made her a star, Joy was an awards-seasoner that kind of sucked, Passengers was a major star vehicle that everyone hated. Oh, and X-Men Apocalypse, the finale to the series she took super seriously when she was starting out, but now doesn't give a flying shit about. It's a bit unprofessional, especially considering Fassbender, whose about as tired of these movies as she is, shows up in the movie and somehow still brings his fucking A-game.
The movies that I have seen of her's I've enjoyed; however the whole "I'm not a Hollywood type. I don't take myself seriously. I laugh at everything. I trip and fall on red carpets," thing has gotten really old. I saw the video of her talking to the journalist after the Golden Globes, and he definitely sounded nervous. He was also a little hard to understand due to his accent; however she never gave him a chance to complete his questions. She just cut him off and talked down to him.
In my opinion these actors are always acting, even when they're not playing a character. They have to make themselves seem relatable and down to earth in order to appeal to the masses. It's amazing how many of them make themselves look so anti-Hollywood and talk about doing the cooking and cleaning etc. when the reality is they are so rich and so busy making movies that you know they have other people doing the domestic work for them.
Too many poor choices, plain and simple. Perhaps it is brave and commendable of her to do roles which are far removed from her Katniss persona but the public don't want to see her in them.
