shareIt can't be moral issue. He's okay with playing a murderer. He's okay with nudity and having lots of sex onscreen. Just not gay, I guess.
shareFake blood and killing is different from real tongue kissing someone you don't want to.
shareIt's called ACTING. Plenty of str8 actors have done kissing scenes with other guys and have had no problem with it. Grimes does come across as a homophobe. And seriously--what was he expecting in "True Blood"???
shareIt's called a choice, just because other actors are OK with doesn't mean all of them are. So is this how it is? if you don't kiss someone of the same gender, that makes you a homophobe? What is wrong with you rainbow goons?
shareActors kiss actresses they don't want to kiss all the time.
shareBecause all those other things he's playing the audience KNOWS its just acting. For some reason playing gay on true blood , people really think he's gay in real life I've seen it. Nelsan Ellis(Lafayette) even got upset that so many people think he's gay because of the show.
In its own way that is a complement. Brian and Justin from Queer as Folk looked like a real couple but Brian is straight in real life.
sharePREPPY AND OTHERS: And many actors will tell you porn is acting too. Anna Paquin said she had real sex on True Blood with many of her co-stars. There are WAY many more actors who would never do that, no matter how many people enjoy the show. And bravo for them for not being brow beaten into thinking they somehow have to do that because that is someone's idea of what a "real" actor would do. Look at all the "actor police" who engage in group think.
I am an artist. I have drawn from live, nude models. Does that mean because they pose nude they should be willing to do anything in the name of art? No, nor would I expect that. Some models would never take off their clothes. And that is fine. They don't have to. There are plenty who do, and I RESPECT the rights of those that don't. It doesn't make them less of a model. It simply makes them models who don't go nude. So for those models, you learn to draw the human form in cloth. Just as important.
Many actors have religious beliefs or morals that keep them for playing certain roles. I cheer and applaud those who are not intimidated by the thought and action police. Luke Grimes has said nothing about homosexuals, has he? Anyone with one quote? Just one. No. He is demonized by some simply because he didn't want to play a role. And for all we know, it may have had NOTHING to do with portraying a homosexual.
But of course, those who like to call names and slander people, could care less. They are willing to demonize him simply for NOT playing a television role. Or worse, not being too afraid of them to defy what they deem an actor should be willing to do in the name of the art of acting (which, by the way, had NOTHING TO DO WITH SEX OR NUDITY).
