Jenna in Victoria
Just finished watching the first season of Victoria. Jenna Coleman is superb in this series. I hope there will be a second season.

shareYes I totally agree she is brilliant as Victoria.
I still remember her from Emmerdale as Jasmin Thomas
She is absolutely radiant! I didn't know her before this, and every time she's on screen I can't take my eyes off her.
Albert's not bad either...and man, he looks a lot like the "real" Prince Albert (at least the painting of him).
I just watched the first episode of Victoria. I was already a fan of Jenna from Doctor Who (yes, I’m one of seemingly few people who actually liked her on that show and will never understand the over-the-top hatred directed towards her. The way some people act - holding a grudge against her for *one* character she played - is just sad, really).
Anyway, I found the first episode of Victoria very compelling. Not only does everything look great (the CGI doesn’t really bother me), including the sets, costumes, etc , and the show's theme is very effective, but Jenna is so very good in this type of role. Yes, Victoria has her moments where she thinks she knows best and then is proven mistaken (and called on it), but she’s obviously meant to be quite young in the beginning and Jenna conveys this young woman trying to deal with such responsibility and people working against her behind her back. It didn’t take long before I was sympathizing with her character, and she has really good chemistry with Rufus Sewell (who I’m glad to see *not* playing a bad guy for a change, as most of the roles I’ve seen him in I think he’s played the villain. Movies that I’ve seen with him where he plays a *good* guy I could probably count on one hand). Already it’s Victoria and Melbourne who I am most interested in. Every time they’re onscreen together, I’m totally invested in what they’re saying/doing and the relationship between them.
There’s already a few characters who I really don’t like – though I’m wondering if that was the intent and we’re meant to not like them? It is nice to see Nell Hudson from Outlander here in a role that’s not as thankless as that of Laoghaire (though it was odd at first not hearing her speak with a Scottish accent).
I really liked the movie The Young Victoria with Emily Blunt and I’m liking this so far too (and I loved Victoria’s dog, Dash, in both that movie and in this show). It's so good to see Jenna have her own series now. Looking forward to watching the rest of Series 1 (I only wish there were more than 8 episodes - I might have to stretch them out and not watch too many in a row to make them last).
Jack Sparrow: "Look." [shoots the monkey] "An undead monkey! Top that!"
I love "Victoria" too and Jenna is so amazing in the role. I've been a fan of hers for a couple years and the show is so good. Love Rufus, Tom, and the rest of the cast. Really helps fill the void "Downton Abbey" left but also mixed with a bit of "The Crown" and Jane Austen's novels. It's already been renewed for a 2nd season too back in September and it's getting a Christmas special that all will start filming in a couple weeks.
