Twitter? Is he losing his vision?

And I'm not talking about his eyesight.

Here's a guy who's got the smarts to start up companies that produce electric vehicles and solar energy products, things that are sorely needed in our fight against climate change and in our search for clean, renewable energy sources.

So he spends $44 billion purchasing an idiotic social media platform that is contributing to the polarization and fragmentation of our society?

Surely the money could have been better spent. Social media is the scourge of today's civilization. There are more pressing issues that need to be addressed, and Musk was one who had the potential to do it.

Twitter is still a powerful platform for posting messages.

If the company can double its value in 10 years, he will have found a way to make billions without needing to do much work. That's the benefit of buying a busy that is still growing.

reply

still growing but in an area where it can easily be undercut and replaced within a year. just ask myspace...

selling a product like a car is different.

Nothing post Trump's removal gas come close to challenging the space.

reply

not yet. just social media trends are weird.

With money there must be power come with it, without media he does not have that much power. He can use money to influence some politicians but not on a large scale.

He did mention "functioning democracy", right? Without owning media how could you control the "functioning democracy"?

He can proudly say now that he has a seat at the table.

Lot of previously buried voices are going to be heard. It's going to be interesting. Could open all sorts of doors.

reply

A different set of voices are going to be buried too, now at his whim.
