No... I dunno. Would he even want to put himself through that again? Competing with Bayern and then Manchester City on comparatively limited funds clearly took its toll on him. Perhaps he'd prefer something a little less intense.
Competing with Bayern and then Manchester City on comparatively limited funds...
Yeah, I guess that's the kind of venture I'm looking for.
Tbh, not sure how many are left - a lot of clubs - even more moderate -are now backed heavily financially from overseas investment. Even Liverpool is only really a massive success story due to the constraints he worked against with FSG's limited investment. Still believe that without the Coutinho sale they wouldn't be were the are now - even with Klopp.
What would the Spanish Liverpool / Dortmund be I wonder?

Yeah. The Coutinho money and the smart way it was invested certainly helped enormously. I think you're right that Liverpool wouldn't have had the level of success they did without the players they were able to bring in with that money.
But it's been shrewd recruitment all round at Liverpool. People like Mane and Salah -- bought for decent but not outrageous money -- turned out to be absolute steals.
And, yes, I don't think there is a Spanish 'sleeping giant' equivalent for Klopp to go to. I suppose he can rock up at Barcelona if he really wants a pressurised environment operating under financial restraints. But obviously it's not really the same thing.
I suspect he'll go for the Germany job though. I think international football will provide him with the emotion and the passion he clearly thrives on without the daily grind of club football... But I might think this because I'm a Liverpool fan who right now finds it quite difficult and unpleasant to picture him managing another club.
Yeah, the Germany position is probably the most "Klopp like" job to go for at the moment.
They've been performing really poorly lately and if the Euros don't go well for them, he can come in, give the whole country a boost and do what he does best without the day to day pressures. Seems perfect.
His next task will be German national team, its totally screwed up like it was in 2000, before Klinsmann/Löw took control. He is much needed, we just wait until the new one screws up, luckily his contract ends after the Euro Cup.
Marseille and Lazio have no chance whatsoever to match the investment of the top clubs in their country. Those would be projects destined to fail, unless he would be content in getting some champions league qualification places.
Liverpool is one of the biggest teams in England, and they have a lot of money to invest. Making it rise was a realistic goal.
It's easy to see Liverpool like that now but before he went there was Brendan Rodgers and not so long before that Roy Hodgson... Was a mess really.
Marseille are former European Champions and the biggest supported club in France by some distance. Taking them to the top and fighting against the cheat team of PSG is surely the closest you could get to trying to square up to Bayern or Man City.
