He did a pretty masterful job of evading capture and getting out of Manhattan.
Then he goes to a McDonald's with no disguise or altered appearance where there are sure to be a lot of security cameras and people eating, looking around, watching stuff on their phones.
That seems not very smart or maybe he wanted to get captured in order to make his case to the public.
He was wearing a blue medical mask when arrested. Only took it off when eating food.
So he was being careful. Also I think the police was in a frenzy, willing to check out any lead at all, and arrived at the scene in matter of minutes.
He should have hidden until he'd grown a big old moustache like his namesake.
Then he could have freely walked about going "Itsa me, Luigi!".
I don't think so. He was so arrogant that he thought he wouldn't be recognized. He had the murder weapon and a notebook with his plans drawn out. He even presented the fake id card that he used at the NYC hostel. All of that evidence should have been destroyed.
There was one side view picture of his face at the hostel and a frontal view of his face with the mask on in the cab. He was also wearing a mask in Altoona and most people haven't been wearing masks for a while.
That and carrying the manifesto.
I lowkey wanted him to get away with it, lol
