The finest you've ever seen?? In those 45 years have you only seen three movies?

No expectations, no disappointments.

i think is the most bautiful performance by an actress in the last 10 years.

Her rendition of "New York, New York" in Shame was poignant. She was really excellent. I hope to see her in more roles where she plays someone so broken.

She was great, no doubt, but the finest performance of all time is a little over the top. (I know you didn't say all time, but one can only assume that your 45 years of watching film surely wasn't in a liner fashion. For example, I've been watching film for nearly 20 years, but I've seen plenty-o-film made before 1993.) Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed her performance, which was fantastic. A true testament to how good Shame is (in my opinion) is that Mulligan wasn't even as good as McQueen's overall direction or Fassbender's performance.

It was truly haunting (not sure about the finest performance ever, but one of the best I've seen in a while). Michael Fassbender was also amazing in that movie, and they had an intense chemistry. This is just the sign of more and better things to come from Carey Mulligan.

I am you and what I see is me.

I think that finest performance ever seen is overselling it - but she is indeed wonderful in Shame. I wasn't won over by Mulligan's breakthrough in An Education, but she blew me away here. As already mentioned, 'New York, New York' is a moment for the ages, but her entire performance is at that level. Nuanced, touching - super work, really.
