TMI:CoB a flop - good or bad for Robert's career?

As they seem to have cancelled the second film City of Ashes - what do you think, is it a good thing to his career or not?
I really liked his playing Simon and was happy he would get an even bigger appearance in the 2nd film...

Robert will be fine. Lily is who I'm more concerned about. This wasn't Robert's vehicle. It was Lily's. TMI was supposed to be Lily's Twilight. She was expected to be the next Kristen Stewart, Jennifer Lawrence. This will hurt Lily more than Robert. People are already pointing the finger at Lily. Robert will benefit from TMI more. It it is a small launching pad to having a career in Hollywood. It has gotten Robert more noticed and I see good things coming his way from being in TMI, even though TMI wasn't a huge success like The Hunger Games and Twilight.

I know Robert is not really known in the US, but he has a relatively well-established career in the UK and Ireland, he is not an unknown, he has lots of experience and some pretty good stuff in his filmography. He wasn't a newcomer.

While not total newbies themselves, this was more of a star vehicle for both Lily and JCB. JCB seems to star in any teen franchise he can find. Lily, well, it seems like any movie that has her in a prominent role is a total flop. It sends bad vibes to the casting directors. It is a sign she can't make people interested in seeing her movies, which is, well, one of the main prerequisites for a star.

Robert will be fine.

Even if Robert had been the top lead in TMI, I don't think it would've hurt him. Lily isn't the only one we should be worried about. What about the other lead, Jamie?

reply

I think Jamie is also no doing great in all of this. Maybe it's just me. Then again, unlike Robert, I think both Lily and JCB have very little acting talent. Especially Lily. JCB might be ok in certain type of roles, but definitely not the ones he goes for (sexy lead).

On the other hand, I think Robert needs to learn something from this and turn to projects of the type he valued in the past (European ones or US indie ones). Not saying he shouldn't ever do any Hollywood movies but shouldn't be his main concern, especially if what he's offered is crap.

I disagree about Lily and Jamie having very little talent, especially Lily who has yet to have a role to sink her teeth in. Robert has been able to be in roles that get to showcase his talents. Lily did what she was supposed to in the roles she was given, but I do see potential in her.

I do think Robert is more charismatic and a stronger actor. I wouldn't be surprised to see Robert becoming bigger than both Jamie and Lily, but I would have to agree with Honey. I wouldn't say they are talentless. If you think Jamily have very little talent, then you haven't seen real no talent. I went to a play last year and all the actors were terrible.

A blessing probably. Those teenager fantasy crappy movies have a stigma attached to them that turn any promising career into a long series of similar bad movies with no hope of ever getting out of them.

It was a terrible movie. I'm glad they cancelled it. I think he was miscasted in that movie.
