Terrible band.
If rock is dead, they were one of the bands who killed it.
shareThey had loads of talent and produced some great party songs. I loved Shout at the Devil and was disappointed they went the party music route, but I still enjoyed them. Went to their concert last time they toured and they were a shadow of their former selves, the concert sounded studio, same order, same sound as the albums. Tommy Lee had a broken arm and couldn't perform, Vince Neil forgot the words to Shout at the Devil during the encore.
shareThey are a great band, especially their 80’s stuff such as Too Fast For Love and Shout At The Devil
sharei always think of something i believe roger ebert said in his original spinal tap review: being in a rock band looks like a lot of fun, even if it's a really lousy rock band.
that said, i think the crue guys actualy got better as they went along. the first few albums are typical hair metal nonsense - my friends in high school who were musicians laughed at their bass lines.
but on girls girls girls & dr feelgood...i can't deny that they actually found some pretty hard grooves and...y'know, kinda kicked ass.
it's certainly not the kind of music i like. i'd rather listen to anything else personally. but...some of the tracks on those records really achieve a sort of primal, raw groove that is genuinely exciting.
so i would boldly say that maybe for a while they were not truly terrible.
While most of what you said was negative toward them, I feel the odd positive you gave them was still too much credit.
shareNo, Kick Axe were a terrible band. They were the worst and most cliché of those 80s metal bands.
