It's true Asians are a bit shorter on average but most East Asians and indeed Asian-Americans can average out around 5ft7 or even 5ft8.
Wan is of Malaysian descent. I just looked it up and yeah, the average Malaysian man is 5ft5, that's a few inches shorter than your typical Japanese, Chinese and South Korean man.
Turns out South-East Asian men from the likes of Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand average out between 5ft4 to 5ft6. So I guess his 5ft 3 and a half isn't that out of the norm for his ethnic group. Small people.
