Are we going to get Jack Of The Red Hearts in theatres?

It's been a while since I last visited this board- and indeed a while since I last paid much attention to Robb at all- but then I remembered she was supposed to have a movie out this year titled 'Jack of the Red Hearts' which, if I remember correctly, boasted quite an interesting plot and the sort of lead role AnnaSophia has never really played before. It seems, though, that it may only get a limited release at really obscure US cinemas and won't even be shown on major silver screen in the states, let alone internationally. It would be a shame if it were to never be released to a wide audience, particularly as it appears to be Robb's last chance to make something of herself in the acting world having moved to New York and effectively committed career suicide.

I'm aware that most people on here only care about her padded ass and couldn't give a toss about her acting or her career, so for those of you to whom that applies, please don't just respond with 'who cares if she wasted her talent by going to college? Her ass will always be perfect!' because I really haven't got time to be clearing up your s**t.

To answer your primary question -- at least thus far:
Thank you so much! We just had the world premiere at the festival and are hoping to have news about theatrical and DVD releases soon! Appreciate the interest.

Y-e-a-h... Robb has already stooped to stepping into iffy TV series.

I know AnnaSophia's enrolled in college now, but I don't think that's had as big of an affect as would be typically assumed.

1) She's admitted to planning on dragging out college, perhaps even double the usual length.

2) Clearly still makes time to attend snob events

3) Even though she jokingly posts about avoiding homework and mentions classes occasionally, I haven't seen any indication that her hearts in it.

Overall, despite some traits remaining, sometimes goofy, etc, much of her attitude has drastically changed since she moved away from her parents -- which is sad/disappointing to me.

Anywho... I'll try to remember to append/update the Jack of the Red Hearts thread (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1455681/board/nest/231328107) once I become aware of release info, trailers, etc.

We missed talking with you though, Paranoid. :)

Yeah, it's been a while. I've just been really busy lately, what with examinations and job applications. This board has been a little quiet lately, largely because AnnaSophia hasn't really been involved in too many new projects. I haven't really paid her too much attention as a result, but with this new project on the horizon I might frequent this board a little more regularly. Nice talking to you again.

A lot of people have come out of Bentonville saying this was their favourite film on show. It also won some kind of award, so hopefully this won't be another under-the-radar indie flop for AnnaSophia like 'Sleepwalking' (which I actually enjoyed, by the way) and will warrant some critical praise when it gets released to the public. Also, this is pretty much AnnaSophia's first starring role since the role that made her career (By which I mean Leslie Burke- I'm just pretending Soul Surfer never happened), so I'm anticipating, or at least hoping for, another star turn in this movie.

As for this new TV series, she has a small part and I loathe peroid dramas, so I doubt I'll give it the time of day. Nice to see she's still acting, though, and hasn't abandoned her muse to become a professional dog photographer, as her Instagram would suggest.

I really don't understand all this college business. She was given a one-in-a-million opportunity to be in movies her whole young adult life, every girl's pipedream, and has forsaken it in favour of studying at college, which is tedious, and hanging around with Mastin Kipp's underling, which is pointless. Somebody please explain!

I usually try to avoid getting sucked into these topics which often end up in quicksand, but I thought I'd respond to a couple things.

First, how can anyone be criticized for getting a college degree, preparing for what may come in the future, particularly when the 'shelf life' of female actors in Hollywood is relatively short? (which is their m.o., not my own opinion). You may say that she should therefore be striking while the iron is hot, but plenty of people have managed to do both simultaneously, and how can you fault her for wanting to go to college when she is young rather than as a 45 yr old night student?

Second, saying she abandoned her acting career by moving to NEW YORK CITY? It is not Dubuque, you know, esp in the world of entertainment and the arts.

Third, you seem to snip at her for doing supporting roles in quality indie projects (you failed to mention her good work in the very good The Way Way Back, btw). So you'd rather have her doing leads in dumb Mean Girls knockoffs or horror flicks? I thought you weren't all about her 'aesthetics'.

Finally, I do agree wholeheartedly that her relationship with that absolute turd makes my skin crawl...

It's never too late to go to college, so it just seems a bit of a waste of what ought to be her best years to spend twice as long as necessary getting a French (?) degree. If an actress' shelf life is short, she could just go study and try and get qualifications for a new job afterwards.

'Second, saying she abandoned her acting career by moving to NEW YORK CITY? It is not Dubuque, you know, esp in the world of entertainment and the arts.'

Well, I suppose there is Broadway. I'm not ever going to see anything she does if she becomes a Broadway star, though, because there's no way I'm going to that corporate sh*thole of a city just to see her perform. That'd be a little creepy.

'Third, you seem to snip at her for doing supporting roles in quality indie projects'

I didn't 'snip at her'. I just noted that her role in JOTRH is the first lead part she's had in a movie for a while (I thought 'The Way Way Back' was pretty good). As for this new series, it's mostly the fact that I find peroid dramas to be unpalatable that prevents me from giving it a look.

'So you'd rather have her doing leads in dumb Mean Girls knockoffs or horror flicks? I thought you weren't all about her 'aesthetics'.'

How on earth did you deduce that? I said I'd like to see her talent be appreciated and I'd like for her to secure more leading roles because I believe that she has the quality to be a respected adult actress if she wants to be. I don't recall ever mentioning 'Mean Girls' (I can't stand chick flicks, anyway, hence why I thought 'the Carrie Diaries' was somewhat of a misstep) and nor would I necessarily recommend she star in a terrible horror movie (though this can sometimes be a rite of passage for young actors). I can see where you're coming from here- you're suggesting that I'd rather see her play a lead in a corny but populist film than play a supporting character in a more artful indie drama, and to an extent that's true- while I enjoy her obscure indie films a lot (a la 'Sleepwalking', 'West Texas...') I'd like her to get some mainstream recognition, even if that requires her to sell out a little and appear in a vapid blockbuster superhero film or something. It's part of a larger process. As for the 'aesthetics' comment, I'm really interested to know how you were able to infer that from what I said because it seems completely non sequitur to me.

As for the fitness guy? Two words: *beep* him.

There's a lot more going on in NYC than Broadway, they shoot tons of shows and movies there now.

I am up and down on the selling out thing. It doesnt seem that shes in this career for the fame or money (the latter of which I think makes it more important to get a degree), so I don't think she'll do it (more than things like Race to Witch Mtn, or fairly innocuous stuff like that).

The aesthetics crack was more about if you wanted to see her in like a spring break teen movie, something mindless and mainstream to become more popular (a la Bella Thorne). The way I phrased it prob wasn't well thought out.

It used to be that she chose roles based on whether she liked the script and/or identified with the character. I don't see how that rationale translated to her taking part in 'The Carrie Diaries', but nonetheless it seems to have driven her to accept the lead role in this new film. I've always respected her for acting with humility in regards to money and playing more complex or interesting characters instead of just selling out, but that contradicts a little with me wanting to see her get the acclaim she deserves, which only happens when you delve into the often-asinine world of mainstream, populist cinema.
