Hermaphrodites are born both male and female. Notice how hermaphrodites can't be born with any other made up gender. Demi isn't a hermaphrodite because she would have stated it. Who is she to say she is both male and female when she wasn't born that way?
Hermaphrodites, as far as humans go, look like they are both. In reality they are one or the other with extra "parts". If they are female they can become pregnant but cannot use the genitalia to impregnate someone else. And vice versa.
