OMG yes I would like to think that they would have kept making music for a long time. I love so many songs by them! I espically like Land Ho, End of the Night, The Crystal Ship, Unknown Soldier, Not to Touch The Earth, Riders on the Storm, Spanish Carivan, Alabama Song.

The last two Doors albums done without Morrison, and even some of Manzarek's solo work, give us tantalizing glimpses of what direction the Doors might have gone in. Ahh... what might have been.

I like them but they are nowhere close to being one of the best bands ever.

The Doors are the ultimate LA band. No other LA-based band even comes close, nor ever shall. It’s like The Jefferson Airplane with San Francisco. NOBODY is going to supplant those bands in their connection to those cities.

It galled me when stone idiots dubbed Bob “Dylan” (Zimmerman) “the poet of his generation.” Jim Morrison was in every way a better lyricist than Bob AND an exponentially better singer. “The day destroys the night/Night divides the day”: out of the fucking GATE Morrison kicked Dylan to the kerb. And that’s the correct spelling for “kerb.”
