Who's the greatest - The Wonder Bairn or Rocket Ronnie?

Clearly between these two for the GOAT.

Hendo leads the way in terms of World Championship victories on Seven but I believe Ronnie can move within one of that this year and leads the way otherwise in terms of overall tournament victories.

Then again Hendo retired early so do you need to pro rata their successes when looking at this?

Interesting re timeframes. Just looking at the World Champions list here:-

Hendry won his seven over ten years which I'd have say would be a beyond a purple patch, and five in a row, which is untouched in the modern era (Ronnie's best two in a row).

Still if Ronnie wins this weekend his achievements will span over twenty years which will surpass Mark Williams effort the year before last...

Yeah, good point mentioning Joe Davis - Ronnie was certainly plugging his biography during the world champs so hopefully he made a few quid... 😏

Only thing re his count is that I'm sure a few if not most of these were either single matches or very limited in terms of competition. I think that's why not universally looked on like winning the whole thing in the open era.

Probably a bit like the early Real Madrid European Cup wins...

It only took Hendry a decade to win 7, Ronnie took three decades.

Yeah, fair point - I said that in the OP, should you pro rata when looking for sporting GOATs?

Hendry did burn out a bit quickly when you look back at it. I think he just thought if he couldn't dominate, he didn't want to continue. Maybe he could have won one or two more over the years if he'd kept at it...
