I'm honestly surprised she carried on her sex symbol ways. She acted like she hated the way she was sexualized in the transformer movies. Now, it seems like she only plays sex symbols and even the way she dresses outside of acting is sexualized. So for someone who acted like they didn't want to be a sex symbol, that's all she turned out as.
Yeah because she can't act, and she's getting older.
If you look at most past gen sex symbols their careers stopped dead in their tracks once they were no longer able to monetize their sex symbol status.
Very few of them could actually act and go on to have a decent career after their looks faded. The only ones who come to mind are Jane Fonda and Helen Mirren.
The rest realized too late that they should have played up to their abilities while they had them. Sharon Stone, Scarlett Johansson and Megan Fox are only worth their weight in looks; and so after running away from that during her prime years, Megan Fox is trying to desperately cash in on what remains of her sex appeal before it fades for good.
Not that I'm a fan of playing up to being sexually objectified, realistically it was a talent she should have exploited all through her 20s while she was smoking hot and her career had struck iron. Then afterward she could have tried branching into serious roles if she ever learned how to actually act (which, she didn't). So now she's in that weird place where she's no longer in her 20s, sort of smoking hot, and is getting up there in age, and she still can't act.
It's quite an unfortunate turn of events. Helen Mirren was probably the only one who was smart enough to realize you're only young once, and to take advantage of it while you have it. She smartly navigated her career through Hollywood all the way up into old age.
It was thanks to Michael Bay for not only making her appear so hot but also helped Will Smith become a symbol during mid 90s. Was reading how Smith was against being shirtless in first Bad Boys yet Bay insisted would make him an action star and it did! If only Bay continued his hard action films instead of selling out with the Transformers franchise as he knew what he was doing in his earlier career.
And yeah, one of the most iconic scenes from the original Bad Boys was Will Smith running in slow motion with the open shirt and gun in hand.
Michael Bay really did know how to make cinematic imagery stick. And he absolutely nailed the cinematic aesthetic of Megan Fox in Transformers...
A shame that he hasn't really made anything memorable recently (unless he released something I wasn't aware of?). I also wonder if he's being black balled by Hollywood for making masculine action films for men?
It's worth watching the interview if you ever run across it. He describes how he was resistant to it at first, but when they had the screening and he overheard random women fawning over him, it made him feel some kind of way for the first time.
I agree with most of your comment, but I'll defend Scarlett's acting ability. She showed plenty of promise in Horse Whisperer, Lost in Translation and Woody Allen films.
Megan chooses many bad scripts which doesn't help.
Elizabeth Taylor, Ann Margaret, Raquel Welch, Hallee Berry, Farrah Fawcett. Quite a few sex symbols have been able to move into better roles, but they were in better movies.

I mean, she was okay in Lost in Translation in my opinion, nothing that Anne Hathaway or Jennifer Connelly couldn't have pulled off. Has she made any recent notable films outside of the MCU stuff?

Yeah, either she fails to read the scripts or her agent is trash.

I will give you Ann Margaret and Elizabeth Taylor. They were definitely still pumping out quality content into their old age. Farrah Fawcett, though? Ehh... she was big in the 70s and 80s but dropped off hard in the 90s. She was still talked about a lot in the press but I don't remember her making many notable films in the 90s... or am I mistaken?
Raquel Welch was kind of similar, very popular up until the 80s and then mostly guest starring roles and TV movies here and there.
Now Halle Berry is still appearing in theatrical flicks, but did she really ever start or embrace being a sex symbol? Because I remember her being in romantic/comedy films and I believe she was in some black films -- and while men fawned over her like crazy, I don't actually remember her playing up sex symbol status like the others? Oh, well I suppose she did so in Catwoman.

According to IMDB, Scarlett has over 236 acting nominations (2 Oscars) and 70 wins which is more than Anne even though Anne won 1 Oscar. Scarlett was in two critically acclaimed 2019 movies, Marriage Story and Jojo Rabbit. I enjoyed both, but I thought the former was a little over-rated. Covid stopped movie production for a few years, but she has three interesting movies in pre-production.
Farrah had zero credibility as an actress until she did Burning Bed. I was only crediting her for successfully establishing herself as a good actress in a good role. Something Megan can't do.
Raquel Welch was able to revive her career as a Latina actress.
Halle is a sex symbol, but I consider her acting sometimes cringe-worthy. She's played sexy roles in quite a few films like The Flintstones and Die Another Day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4kio7152q4
