I honestly don't get the hatred directed at her.

Acting like as if she shot and killed their dog.

Whatever did she do to get so much wrath?
Is she not allowed to speak her mind and show her anger at something that needs to change and end?

reply

The people who I know who dislike Thunberg do so because she is both very inexperienced/naive and expresses her opinion with haughty indignation.

Now, I'm not commenting on her myself, I'm just saying that this is the perception of those who detest her and basically they think she's foolish and incredibly annoying because she's basically coming off (to them) as a petulant child.

I believe this is compounded by the "Nickelback Effect" where the perceived value of the event/person is incongruous with the perceived response. In other words: just like Nickelback is a middling band that is stadium-filling popular, so too is this credential-less child turned into a guru by the public. Because those who hate Nickelback/Thunberg find them baffling, any popularity those people have becomes infuriating.

reply

The people who badmouth Nickelback are just american record company psychopaths. When nickelback first started out they were signed to a danish record company called Roadrunner records and Roadrunner was not owned by an american record company at the time so all the money that nickelback made, none of that went to american record company leeches.

American record companies' business model is that they have to own all musical artists that are good at writing good sounding songs. The musical group Abba had their own record company and so all the money Abba made went to the members of Abba. Abba was negatively criticized by american record company psychopaths because Abba never signed to an american record company.

American record company emplyees are just psychopaths who want to leech onto people who can write good sounding music.

Also, notice how Thunberg pretty much disappeared from media prominence after Biden was declared POTUS. Same for BLM, Antifa, and other useful tools for causing chaos and controversy. What a coincidence. The media wouldn't want to give the impression that climate change was still accelerating beyond control with a democrat in the White House. Thus, Thunberg at present may as well not exist.

reply

I think that's a pretty good assessment, but I would add that she was bestowed with this popularity to speak on a topic that has the potential to completely upend the lives of billions of people, yet she was effectively protected from criticism because of her age. Her attempts to shame countries into making massive changes to their economies that would have required massive tax increases, etc. - all because she was offended ("how dare you!") - came across as mind-numbing. It was as if rational discourse was supposed to be thrown out the window because an adolescent girl who can't possibly know how economies operate was upset about an issue.

reply

That's part of what I mean with "the Nickelback Effect." The popularity overruns the perceived value by people who don't like the phenomenon very much. So, I do agree that giving credibility to Thunberg on a national scale is part of what angers the people who detest her.

reply

So we have a single teenager who expresses herself sub-optimally vs multinational corporations collectively worth trillions of dollars who spend untold millions to promote lies about the effects of their products in the destruction of our environment.

I can see where she's the problem (eye roll)

reply

"So we have a single teenager who expresses herself sub-optimally..."

You should shed some light on "single" Greta's background, especially her parents.
Apart from the fact that this unproductive Friday 'movement' motivated countless students to skip school. ☻
Students can also demonstrate on Sunday. πŸ€˜πŸ½β€‹

reply

Single, as she is one person.

reply

Yah, Greta all alone in the world. πŸ˜Ώβ€‹
#parents ☻

reply

I'm not saying she's "the problem," I'm answering the question of why some people hate Greta Thunberg with a passion. I don't hate Thunberg. I do find her to be naive and out of her depth - at least when she was "trending" - and that does devalue her opinion for me. But in terms of environmentalism, I do think we're doing a terrible job of caring for the planet and need to do much better. I'm not radical, but I would be closer to Thunberg than "the corporations" in terms of where I'd like to see us take wastefulness and climate care.

reply

It is because she is a kid and the psychopaths who are climate change alarmists pushed her forward. Psychopath people in western civilization hide behind kids and disabled people. The wrath is for the psychopath climate change alarmists who hide behind disabled people and kids like Greta Thunberg.

reply

That is not what I am seeing when I see those videos, GIFs or memes that feature her and her words to poke fun at her.

If you really think that she is the forefront person with others behind her, feel free to show that.
I'm under the impression she was speaking on her own without anyone pulling her strings.

reply

Yeah that's why people express hatred of a teenage girl. It's actually wrath at unnamed, faceless people you imagine you should be hating. Bravo.

reply

People know that climate change alarmists are psychopaths.

reply

.... And that justifies abusing teenage girls?

reply

That "teenage girl" is now 21 years old.

Please inform her active parents that Greta's puppy protection expired. πŸΆβ€‹

reply

So because she's no longer a teenager, that means the abuse she was subjected to as a teenager can't be talked about?

reply

You can talk about whatever you want to...and so can I.
Well, if you use hate speech...that's not about it. ☺

However, this thread appeared new to me...not just like 'coping with the past'.

reply

For someone named TimeTunnel, you have a funny handle on chronology.

reply

Sorry that I mentioned the true age of that supposed "teenage girl".
The only people who "abused" Greta are her parents and alleged friends.
They harnessed a mentally handicapped person to their climate cart.
They prevented creative young people from learning ("school strike") and solving climate problems constructively.
Hail, Thunberg! πŸŸβ€‹ πŸ”οΈβ€‹

reply

Wow.

You make facile attempts at blaming her parents and friends, but still direct your anxiety at her at the end of the post.

Impressive.

reply

"anxiety" πŸ˜Šβ€‹

Now that your 'tear duct' was busted, you try to analyze me.
Failed, try again. ☺

reply

she advances propoganda by the globalist that aim to rise taxes and aprrove all kinds of anti-human laws. shes pure evil

reply

What are you babbling on about now, you crazy crackpot?

reply

maybe if you were actually resarching what global warming is about you would know you idiot. they want to enslave people and they use this global warming lie to do it

reply

I don't hate her. I find her to be intellectually challenged, ignorant, arrogant, shrill, spoiled, and annoying as hell. I find it ridiculous that millions worship her like a messiah. Would I jump in a lake to save her if she was drowning? Sure, as long as my dog wasn't also drowning nearby.

reply

And that water is a result of the rising ocean from global warming!

reply

I think you confused hatred with smearing, a lot of internet shills and trolls are paid to do that.

I dislike her too, partially because she was given way too much credit, became a political weapon, also because she acted more and more like a politician, a part of political establishment.

reply

"...a lot of internet shills and trolls are paid to do that."

I keep seeing these claims without any real proof of it.
Seems like a cop out to explain away those who disagree with you.
If not then show me where I can sign up to get that job.

"I dislike her too, partially because she was given way too much credit, became a political weapon, also because she acted more and more like a politician, a part of political establishment."

And the problem with that is... what?

reply

I keep seeing these claims without any real proof of it.

Because it is not a secret or conspiracy, "internet consultancy firms" AKA "internet troll farms" is a booming industry. What do you think they do?

And the problem with that is... what?

Politicians lie for a living, you can also call it spinning, but in the end they take money from lobbyists, and spin what they want into narratives sound like beneficial to people.

Have you heard of "Guns don't kill people, people kill people" or "The only thing that'll stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun"?

Or are you going to tell me there is no proof of that too?

reply

"internet consultancy firms" AKA "internet troll farms" is a booming industry. What do you think they do?"

I know this is crazy to you.
I'm going to guess they do internet consulting:

Internet consultants use their technological and computer skills to help people or businesses access and utilize the Internet. Their work may include implementing or refining a computer network, creating a Web site, establishing an online ordering or product support system, or training employees to maintain and update their newly established Web site. Some consultants work independently, and others may be employed by a consulting firm.

I prefer to go by facts and not guessing or speculation which is bullshit.

So if you got something to backup your claims, time to show and tell pal.

reply

I can't speak about the hatred, but the general dislike of her was because she was a mere child who mysteriously gained the authority to speak on an international audience and promote a leftwing cause that had the potential to disrupt the lives of billions of people. In other words, she had no expertise on a matter but was able to command massive amounts of media attention to push one side's propaganda. In addition, because she was a child, she was effectively given immunity from criticism.

Because of this - no expertise + no rational argument + massive media attention + leftwing causes + immunity from criticism - she is disliked by many.

reply

"I honestly don't get the hatred directed at her."

Since when are you honest? πŸ€”β€‹

reply

Have you been out of the planet in the past decades?

There is a worldwide narrative of us vs them, "good ole boys" vs "the system".
She, who speaks for young people (automatically them) and asks for real change in the policies (and not the same ole bullshit) to preserve what nature we have left, is seen as "not aligned with us". Us who disregard the weaker, the just, and laws and regulation in general.

So if you're against exploting everything and everybody, and for putting a halt to pollution and indiscriminate use of resources, you clearly are with THEM, hence the hate.

If I were her, I would take any hate from that band of undersized brains as a badge of honor.
