This is not even a right or wrong issue.
In an ideal world, we should be able to have cartoons of Muhammed and mock him, as we should do to all such deities.
But practically and realistically, if you make fun of Muhammed you literally put your life at risk.
It does not matter that its wrong, unfair, unjust, abhorrent, against the law etc. In this context, western law does not apply. Fanatics will hunt you down and kill you.
