This Man Deserves A Post

Charismatic, ripped, one hell of a martial artist, albeit in Wesley Snipes’ shadow in terms of African-American martial artists, and a contributing player in The Joker’s narrative in The Dark Knight, and not one freaking post? This guy more than held his own in the Michelle Yeoh vehicle, Silver Hawk. I can’t be the only one here who appreciates his talent.

I agree that he has been under-utilized by Hollywood. I know him best as Spawn, which was one of my favorite movies as a kid (I watched it on VHS back in the day lol). He would have made a great Blade as well. But hey, that's how it goes sometimes.

reply

Amen. Just to add, I also loved him in Spawn. Yes, people liked Spawn. Deal with it.

reply

I loved him in Spawn, too; the script and Leguizamo, not so much. I would have preferred that Michael had been cast as Black Panther. I would also preferred that Katherine Winnick had been cast as Valkyrie. To quote The Rolling Stones, you can’t always get what you want.

reply

The Stones were right, sadly.

reply

Except if you want nothing. Then you can always get... nothing. Or not.

reply

When were they not? “Love . . . it’s a bitch. Alright!”

reply

...and get this man a post.

reply

I enjoy some of his stuff, he is fun to watch. He and Scott Adkins came around the wrong time. If they had reached their primes in the 80s, they may have hit it big.

reply

He deserves a post for Black Dynamite alone.

reply

I never thought he was a convincing actor. He's very handsome and has a beautiful body, so I can understand why he has a following.

reply

Bruce Lee was not a convincing actor, nor is Katherine Winnock; but they, and White, more than fill the roles in which they are cast, as WARRIORS. They have/had the physicality to portray their roles, and in spades. Acting takes many paths. Is Dolph Londgren a great, or even a good, actor? Certainly not; but he is (1) a world champion martial-arts fighter, so he is the real thing, like
Chuck Norris, another champion who could not act for shit, but who could fight for real. You know what? If you can put reality into a work of fiction, I am SO
THERE. (2) fit, cut and ripped to Perdition, (3) a tremendously enjoyable personality, (4) MADE The Expendables first movie, and (5) is not an actor, but a movie star.

reply

Yeah, I don't know about how how handsome he is or care about his body but he was cool as Hell and was funny as Black Dynamite.

reply

Yes, you get it. He is satisfying and fun to watch. He may not be a Movie Star, but he is a movie (and direct-to-video) star.

Did you know that Bruce Lee, the man who introduced Hollywood to martial arts and who, not for nothing, CREATED the Kung Fu TV show, did not get a star on the Hollywood Walk of fame until 19-freaking-93?! Martial art has made billions of dollars for the US entertainment industry, but gets almost no respect, so I am going to cheer-lead for every entertainer who has some actual fighting skills, and that does not include David Carradine or any other of the white people in Kill freaking Bill.

Speaking personally, I also respect him for his dedication to his skill- and conditioning-training, because I know what kind of discipline and self-respect that takes.

reply

never heard of him...

reply

And yet, here you are.

reply

Yeah, I like him as an actor as well. He really should be bigger, but I guess people gravitated more towards Wesley Snipes. I once heard Michael in a nearly two hour interview and he came across as well humble, thankful, nice, caring, and intelligent. I was really surprised, because you do not see that type of personality in Hollywood to much and was really refreshing to see.
