Great creative talent, but
unfortunately this guy set a bad precedent for tv and film writers from Gen Y and Gen Z. I didn't really think about it until I was listening to a discussion on YouTube from some guys who had worked in television in the past and were experts on pop culture from the last 40 years. A huge problem writers for tv and movies have today is a.) they have no real life experiences beyond the LA Basin like writers from the WWII, Boomer, and Gen X generations did, and b.) they apparently grew up watching Joss Whedon's stuff and now want to make every tv show and movie they write to be like one of his works (particularly when superheroes or just sci-fi and fantasy in general are involved).
I hate to break it to them, but not everyone can be Joss Whedon, and frankly, if they were trying to imitate his work, they're doing it very poorly, which is one of many reasons why they need to define their works without trying to copy someone more talented than them.
