Best actor to not have a post here (until now)?
I've been re-watching old episodes of "The Rockford Files" lately and really enjoying it. I saw a Season 1 episode early this morning (before I had to leave for my oldest son's high-school cross-country meet) called "Aura Lee, Farewell" that featured Robert Webber. I was surprised to see that he didn't have any posts here.
I didn't know much about Robert Webber when I was younger. Besides "The Rockford Files" (I think James Garner really respected him as an actor...he was in several episodes), I didn't realize that he played Maddie Hayes' father in "Moonlighting" (Thank you to ClementinaSpur for that!). As I got older and started paying more attention to actors/actresses, I started recognizing him in more movies/TV shows. He was in two movies that I think can be called "classics:" "12 Angry Men" (he was Juror # 12) and "The Dirty Dozen." He had a very nice career and I think he was a great actor.
I never knew much about his background...he fought in World War II. He was only 64 when he passed away (1989...died of Lou Gehrig's Disease). That generation really aged fast...I would have thought Webber was in his 60s or even 70s in his "Rockford Files" episodes, but he would have only been around 49 or early 50s for them.
Anyway, I want him to have a post here. He definitely deserves one...a great actor.
