Did the crash kill him or the fire?
Or is it really hard to determine? Also (and this isn't meant to be insensitive), but I heard the bodies were so badly burned that they had to check their teeth to determine who is who.

shareAccording to the autopsy report he died as the result of traumatic and thermal injuries. He was badly burned as well as there being traces of soot in his trachea. He had various fractures including one in his spine. His mandible was fractured. His ribs were broken. Basically he was in very bad shape and had charring all over his body except there was some sparing of the buttocks, feet, and back. His skull was exposed, but all of his teeth were present. As a result they were able to do a positive i.d. on him. Basically he died what I would consider to be a horrible death and I have always hoped that he did not suffer too long before he passed.
shareNone of the injuries he sustained from the crash were lethal. If not for the fire he would have slowly recovered.
shareWell that definitely sucks if he could've survived. It doesn't matter now, sadly. It still is hard to take.
shareThe fact that they found soot in his trachea means that he was alive right after the crash happened. I have always felt that if the car had not exploded he might have lived. He would have had a long road to recovery, but he would be alive. Unfortunately the impact was so hard that the car exploded and sealed both Mr. Walker and Mr. Roda's fate.
shareChristopher Reeve - now THAT'S a sad hollywood story. He came so far too. I doubt he ever would've walked again, but he did come ways.
