Why 100 mph was the reason they died?

I honestly can't seem to shake Paul Walker from my mind.

I know I'll probably be burned for this but how could they have died going 100 mph?? I know they died from hitting the tree & pole etc etc etc. But is the assumption that losing control AT 100mph was the problem? Millions of cars go 100 mph so I don't understand how they crashed.

They don't even know how Roger lost control themselves. They said he "somehow lost control".

It wasn't his first time taking the car out & he'd had it since spring.

As stated by Shaliza there is no known reason on what happened.

They did theorize at one point that perhaps road debris could be the cause. This model of Porsche has poor traction control from the factory. It is a car that doesn't forgive when you make mistake.

EDIT*
Replaced "No" with "Poor"

This is a just a theory so I do not claim that it is definitely what happened.

Now I made a diagram to make it easier for people to see what I'm gonna describe:

They were traveling on the bend from Kelly Johnson Pkwy to Hercules St at high speed. He was probably going too fast exiting the bend but didn't want to go over the other side of the road, turned the wheel a little too much to the right and lost traction at the rear wheels (oversteer) and like the report said he spun out of control. They they hit the first tree and lamp post on Rodas' side, then spun 180° to hit and rest on a second tree on Walker's side.

There is approximately 250 ft between the exit of the bend to the crash site, which it would take less than 1.5s to cover at the speed they were going.

Thanks for the picture.

Okay. So 100mph was deadly for them because of the car they were in?

So they decided to go a bit faster in the nice car on a wide seemingly deserted road but they must have known the car was unforgiving and they weren't on a controlled track so why wouldn't rodas just at least slow down for the bend part?

Was the bend the part that was labelled 45 mph?

reply

Um yes 100 mph is deadly because no way was the street he was traveling on anywhere close to a 100 mph speed limit ...

But if they were going straight in a forgiving normal vehicle with no one around might they have been okay?

reply

If they were going straight in any car, even the Carrera GT, they would have been fine. In a front wheel drive car, going 100+ mph on that bend they would have under-steered and might have crashed on the other side of the road. Speed limits exist for a reason.
