My god, couldn't MC put up a better picture of "Lilly?
I don't care for her politics, but I don't think she should be disrespected like this on a site that is supposedly dedicated to discussing movies.

would be more flattering

I never heard of this person before but clicked on this page to ask either people stop commenting on it so that ugly spud doesn't keep getting bumped to "trending" or perhaps MC would put a more pleasant pic, perhaps Peter Griffin's face in there instead.
Never heard of him? You are probably familiar with The Matrix though. It's the Wachowski Brothers' baby.

Heard of the movie but have never actually seen it!!
I was totally blown away when I saw this at the theater in '99. It was the first movie of its kind. Revolutionized the Action/Sci-Fi genre. Maybe today it's not as spectacular since it's been emulated a lot but I think it's still pretty damn good.
shareI never watched it because several friends did when it first came out and said it was confusing. When it comes to movies, I won't give up two hours of my life for something that's supposed to be entertaining me but makes me struggle to understand it. I didn't watch Lost for the same reason.
I remember being furious with myself for watching Fire Walk With Me to the end hoping it would all make sense at some point, but it never did. I knew I should have turned it off after 15 minutes.
I am a lazy movie viewer. I've wracked my brain over the years as an engineer and product manager, and when I commit myself to being entertained, I don't want to have to work for it.
I admit that all of this might be unfair to the Matrix because I haven't seen it.
I understand. I too, sometimes, want to watch something that won't require an effort to enjoy.
I didn't even finish the first season of Lost... not because it was confusing, but because each episode had to have a big flashback about one of the passengers. And I didn't f*****g care. As for Fire Walk With Me, I had to "IMDB it" and now I understand, lol. David Lynch, 'nuff said! I watched two movies from him and they were weird and neither made sense.
I don't remember being confused by The Matrix it at the theater, though (and I'm no genius). Maybe I didn't "have time" to be confused because I was so impressed with the concept and the action scenes.
But honestly, I don't recall finding it, or even the second movie, confusing. The third one did confuse me, though. I went to read on the web in order to better understand it. But The Matrix (1999) can pretty much be seen as a stand alone even though it has an open ending. I'm guessing they wanted to see if the movie was a success before making a sequel. I think someone could pretty much just watch the first one and be satisfied.
As you can see, I'm a fan. But I believe the movie kind of explains itself on its own and that even if one doesn't get absolutely everything about the story, he will still be entertained. I usually don't like to watch movies more than once but The Matrix and The Matrix Reloaded are movies that I find fun to rewatch.
Sorry for this long reply. I love it so much that I felt I had to encourage you to give it a try one of these days. Of course, I also have my titles (although they are series) that I don't want to waste my time with either, hehe. So I understand and it's totally okay if you decide never to watch it. Have a nice one!
Sorry for this long reply.
Don't get me wrong, I really like The Matrix but it ripped off a lot of stuff from Ghost in the Shell so it's not quite as revolutionary as the writers would like to think.
shareI was talking more about how action scenes were delivered on the big screen since The Matrix. It's special effects were revolutionary and a lot of movies were mimicking them. I know Ghost in the Shell was a widely popular manga but I never watched it. Based on what you are telling me, the brothers were probably two fans who got inspired a lot by it.
shareYeah. Bullet Time was pretty revolutionary. You can tell where they drew their inspiration from. Lot's of Neo Noir stuff. Heavy inspiration from HK action cinema gun fu like The Killer and Hard Boiled.
shareOh yes! The asian cinema influence is blatant. It was such a great mix of genres they did. And it all comes together in perfect harmony. Speaking about all that makes me want to watch The Killer. I've never seen that one.
shareHe's bad looking on all his pictures anyway.
shareim pretty sure as an artist you can upload your own picture to imdb, so it COULD be that he posted that pic himslef and thinks he is hot af
