how to explain the success of the matrix?


seems kind of weird how the matrix was so amazing but everything else seems to not be.
it almost feels like any time a movie of theirs comes out different people made them. how can you explain this? the matrix being so different from the rest in terms of quality and story?

I think the money makes them lose their edge. Jackson tried to milk the Hobbit to make more money, should have been two films maximum. Lucas got rich off his effects studio. James Cameron will likely release two hoohum Avatar sequels, but he uses that to fund his oceanography interests.

No surprised they got their idea from someone else's work, they seem to be capable adapters of graphic novels, but their own ideas seem to miss the mark. I haven't seen their last couple movies, but they seem to have been disasters.
