They know Trump is a self-centered jerk, so what better way to get America's support by making him look bad and ruining him? He's the obvious choice to scapegoat.

They are just using his eccentric behavior as an excuse to make him look bad so they can gain America's support. He's an acceptable target for them, exaggerating his questionable decisions to turn everyone against him.
