Both sides agreed that Afghanistan is a shithole that would never be brought into the 21st century and that the U.S. should leave.
Where Biden went wrong is closing the military base before evacuating civilians, leaving behind things like Black Hawk helicopters that the Chinese and Iranians will love to dissect, not to mention at least several hundred American citizens and many thousands of Afghans that helped the U.S.
Asking the Taliban for more time to leave and for allowing U.S. citizens safe passage to the airport was stupid beyond belief. Not only did the Taliban turn him down, they are openly mocking the impotence of the U.S. and proving to the world the U.S. is a paper tiger.
Can anyone imagine the Chinese or Russians asking the Taliban for permission to remove their own people?
