The “experts” insisted Mexico would never make a deal

The “experts” insisted tariffs on Mexico would end up hurting the U.S. economy.

And yet the President just sealed the deal. It’s official: Mexico will now do more to stop illegal immigration than Democrats (which, of course, is absolutely nothing; in fact, they encourage it).

Interestingly, the "experts" said Hillary had a 91% chance of winning the 2016 election the day before the election. (Why Sure!)

The "experts" also said Trump would destroy the U.S. economy, and yet it's booming!

Needless to say, stop giving much credence to the (Lib/Dem) "experts," which includes the lamestream media.

reply

They made a deal within just a few hours. Trump is the man!

reply

Its more like a 90 day ceasefire and a follow up renegotiation after those 90 days.

reply

Also like I suspected, Mexico wanted funding for it, so we are basically hiring Mexican law enforcement as local immigration enforcement south of the border.

reply

I read the WSJ article and can't find anything to support that claim. Fake news?

reply

Okay so the other article was a bit vague, but this one is clear -- funding is a Mexico goal to be pursued at the follow-up negotiation in 90 days.

Mexico made concessions during the talks, offering to send 6,000 troops to its southern border with Guatemala, but has said it wants to see a long-term solution that would involve economic development aid.

But what's this? The "Deal" is fake news?
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/08/us/politics/trump-mexico-deal-tariffs.html

Friday’s joint declaration says Mexico agreed to the “deployment of its National Guard throughout Mexico, giving priority to its southern border.” But the Mexican government had already pledged to do that in March during secret talks in Miami between Kirstjen Nielsen, then the secretary of homeland security, and Olga Sanchez....

The centerpiece of Mr. Trump’s deal was an expansion of a program to allow asylum-seekers to remain in Mexico while their legal cases proceed. But that arrangement was reached in December in a pair of painstakingly negotiated diplomatic notes that the two countries exchanged.

And over the past week, negotiators failed to persuade Mexico to accept a “safe third country” treaty....

Mr. Trump hailed the agreement anyway on Saturday, writing on Twitter: “Everyone very excited about the new deal with Mexico!” He thanked the president of Mexico for “working so long and hard” on a plan to reduce the surge of migration into the United States.

It was unclear whether Mr. Trump believed that the agreement truly represented new and broader concessions, or whether the president understood the limits of the deal but accepted it as a face-saving way to escape from the political and economic consequences of imposing tariffs on Mexico

Ouch! Trump once again exaggerating.

reply

Nice news, at least Trump is trying to do something.

reply

So, I have searched both articles using the control F function and I cannot find anywhere that it says 90 days follow up. I searched the key word "90". I got no hits. Fake news?

"the Mexican government had already pledged to do that in March during secret talks in Miami between Kirstjen Nielsen, then the secretary of homeland security, and Olga Sanchez...."

"The centerpiece of Mr. Trump’s deal was an expansion of a program to allow asylum-seekers to remain in Mexico while their legal cases proceed. But that arrangement was reached in December in a pair of painstakingly negotiated diplomatic notes that the two countries exchanged."

Did you read these 2 sentences? Trump and family had already made a deal with Mexico before any knew it. Are you against it or for it? I truly do not understand what the Dems want. Do you want open borders? Better security? What is the Dems plan to the crisis at the border? Has Pelosi and family come up with any solutions yet? Its truly ridiculous, any plan that Trump comes up with the Dems are instantly against it.

reply

First off, here's your 90 days quote...
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/07/us/politics/trump-tariffs-mexico.html

There are too many near-identical versions of these articles.

"The declaration said the two countries would continue talking about other steps that could be announced within 90 days."

I can't even begin to remember the site I originally read.

Did you read these 2 sentences? Trump and family had already made a deal with Mexico before any knew it.

1. The second paragraph is, by itself, 2 sentences.

2. "secret talks in Miami between Kirstjen Nielsen" = Trump and Family? WTF is the "family" even in there for?

3. The point here is that Trump is AGAIN reiterating something that already exists just for the publicity and putting his name on it... Like how he put his name on a part of the border fence that he had nothing to do with, or replacing NAFTA with a nearly-identical replacement.

Here, it's funny... Trump's aides showed him, months ago, how Mexico was already using its National Guard to handle refugees/migrants crossing the country, so Trump demanded they do what they're already doing.

LOL

Its truly ridiculous, any plan that Trump comes up with the Dems are instantly against it.

I said absolutely NOTHING about being against anything. In fact I haven't even given an opinion on the border or migration, other than analyzing this Mexico "deal."

reply

Basically, instead of Mexico paying for the wall, Mexico becomes the wall.

reply

Good point.

reply

Where are the pesos for the wall which Mexico will build for us? How's that deal coming along?

reply

Trump is right again. I love that man! MAGA 2020

Once again the Haters accuse others of Hate. Makes no point whatsoever. Pubes have been so obstructionist over every positive thing Progressives have tried to enact, and created the polarization we have now. It's all on them.

Yes, they would have. Other tariffs are hurting the economy.

The Mexico tariffs have been AVOIDED. Even Trump wanted to avoid them!

Why did you use that sentence as the opening line of your topic when you completely ignored it? The context of your sentence says the experts were wrong, but that's ridiculous considering the tariffs are tentatively cancelled and were never imposed.

reply

Biden-ites like Frogarama believe China is our partner and should be left alone.

Tariffs are only hurting the Dems at this point...because they can't justify stealing any of the tariff $$ and spending it on more unnecessary and bloated welfare programs without also giving Trump credit.

reply

This is all true and simultaneously illustrates the self-destructive impulses of the left.

Did and done - so why are you still complaining?

It's called a WIN, revel in it if you have even a vestige of patriotism.
