How is that known? If illegal immigrants are not on the census, how do you count what is not capable of being counted? The immigration dept claims they will not pursue illegal immigrants , even if they know they are illegal, because there are too many. The exception would be if they committed a crime. You dont' think the hospitals, motor vehicle dept, and jails have stats on who is legal and not legal? It doesn't really take much calculating when you add the figures based on the aforementioned.

But, anyway, why are people so gung-ho on the legal immigrants causing the decay of our neighborhoods (etc.) and expecting us to assimilate to their culture (instead of the reverse)

Also, if they are legal, why the acceleration of them only during the last few decades? You dont' see any pattern?

Because you spend a lot money now, there is such a thing as saving money in the long run. Do people think deep enough to understand that some thing pays for itself in the long run--and in addition, spares us their imposition?. For example, maybe when you get weary enough of having to struggle to adapt to their Spanish because they never learned English, you'll have a clearer grasp on it.

But, you'd have to actually live in Los Angeles to understand.

I do know that whenever I see anyone at all - from no matter where they are from - in the check-out line, or driving on the freeway means they're contributing to our economy in multiple ways. They're buying products, they're paying sales tax on products and gasoline, and they've paid sales tax on the car they purchased and now driving on the freeway. Imagine? Helping our economy, keeping thousands employed.

Trump is not stupid. In that case, why is he building a wall, to WASTE our money and make enemies? No, he's doing it because he's older and wiser than the younger-set who do not remember (and do not care) how it was before the brown-people ruined so much, and it's because it does not affect you personally.
