12 Killed in mass shooting at California Bar

A gunman dressed in black, who was described as a 'skilled shooter' who first threw smoke grenades, opened fire with a semi-automatic handgun on students attending an 18+ 'Country Night' club in Ventura County. So far the total dead is 12, including the shooter.

No word yet on the race of the shooter, which will help republicans determine if he's a 'terrorist' or a 'disturbed young man, who acted as a lone wolf'.

Former U.S. Marine who neighbors say may have been suffering from PTSD. Honestly it's scary that someone like this can legally possess a gun. From the article:

"Local police reported numerous contacts with the former Marine on Wednesday, including a call that led officers to his home in April of this year. Officials found Mr Long acting "irate and irrationally," however, he was not taken into custody at the time. A mental health crisis team was called to the scene."

So he will be defined as a 'disturbed young man, who acted as a "lone wolf" ' ?

reply

A lone wolf is the lable you give a terrorist if they acted alone. That's typically a label used by the left when trying to mute the idea that the operation was an organized attack. Had this actually been an radical islamic terrorist the labels would have changed to "work place violence".

reply

Republican Sarah Palin is the one who started to use “ lone wolf” when she realized a white conservative man shot Gifford. Never “ home grown terrorist”.

reply

What political faction was the gifford shooter a member of?
Attempts to call some one a "home grown terrorist" is an attempt by the left to shift blame on American Culture as opposed to the Islamic ideology mass shooters expressed in the past.

reply

I'm sure spending his entire life playing first person shooters had nothing to do with his actions either.

reply

Where did you hear that? From what I've read, he was in the Marines and served in Afghanistan.

reply

Oh I have no idea about this particular guy. I'm talking about our insane culture of violence that permeates every facet of society. We're all programmed timebombs trained to kill from birth. I really don't know why people get upset when it happens. We lust for it in every waking fantasy.

reply

"I really don't know why people get upset when it happens. We lust for it in every waking fantasy."

Probably one reason is because most people are sensible enough to know how to separate 'fantasy' from 'reality', and choose to live in reality. I say most people because we're all well-aware of the T-rump cult whose members live in his fantasy.

The other reason is because those of us who live in reality don't believe in mass shootings and senseless deaths.

Every human being his three days starvation from losing their damn minds. We live on a thread.

I'm pretty sure there have been studies that concluded violent video games have nothing to do with mass shootings. Look at Japan for example. They have an extremely low rate of violent crime and one of the highest rate of violent video game usage. I understand their gun laws are strict, but if video games made people violent, I think it would at least manifest itself in a different way.

One of the theories out there that I think should be more looked into is over prescribed psychiatric medications, specifically SSRI's. Many shooters have been on these drugs and the risks are well documented. A quick Google search will show you that these drugs can lead to suicide, violence and homicide at all ages for certain people.

reply

Highest rate of mass stabbings in the universe.

reply

Japans crime rate is at an all time low right now. Its one of the safest countries in Asia.

Video games desensitize people to violence but does not cause it. Also we don't lust for violence most of us who watch violent movies are entertained not by the violence itself but because we are often pondering how we would respond if we were attacked like in the movie. And any programming from birth is due to genetics and not our culture.

reply

Let's give you a series of bad events that strip away your friends, family and morality and see what happens next. Maybe the crazy ideas of the Joker start making a lot of sense. If those ideas wern't in your head, maybe you act a different way. What art a culture ingests, it regurgitates.

reply

You didn't honestly just blame video games, did you?

Let me guess, that devil Rock n Roll had a hand in it as well.....

reply

A close friend of mine knows a bunch of whose kids were there last night, including friends of her kids. None of them got hurt, but this stuff leaves mental wounds as well.

I used to work in Thousand Oaks, too.

reply

And it's really too soon to talk about Gun Control with the right wingers. Let's just send 'thoughts and prayers'.

reply

Is Trump gonna victim-blame again and say the bar should have had armed guards?

reply

Either that or he's going to say each patron should have gone in with a semi-automatic to protect themselves.

reply

Versus being a sitting duck due to the "Gun Control" you advocate that allowed this to happen in the first place.

reply

You and your socks have been busy lately.

reply

Wow, you lack the creativity to come up with an original comment.

Typical for a mentally dim troll.

reply

Yes cause gun control that turns every one in public areas into sitting ducks is working just great including in this bar.
When you want to talk about gun control at least recognize the difference in violence between states that have and have not implemented it.

reply

Remember how rare these shootings used to me? Now we're competing with Afghanistan. This is pathetic.

Have any of those depraved morons who sniff Ronald McDonald Trump's orange farts ever lived through a mass shooting? Ever lost a child, spouse, parent or sibling from one? Seems not one of them defending the guns actually has.

reply

I lived through a carjacking that involved an exchange of gunfire. Your never gonna convince me to turn in my gun or my carry license. Let alone the bulk of my state.

reply

Another mass shooting! When is this going to end? Are these angry people? Mentally unbalanced? Copy cat shooters? What the heck is going on???

reply

Copy cats. When the media stops glorifying these psychopaths the gun violence will tone down.
