14 Month Old Migrant Incarcerated Not Bathed For 3 Months

The child was returned to his mother covered in dirt and lice. He was also emotionally traumatized. Some Fed workers had also been told not to comfort any children - even babies and toddlers - who were crying. A 2 year old was made to continue screaming for his mother. Children separated have shown to have severe psychological and emotional trauma. A young boy had to be rushed to the hospital after threatening to jump from a 2 story window because he wanted to be returned to his parents.

Some of their mothers were placed in cages without blankets in freezing weather, food or water and subject to verbal abuse by Federal workers who called them "stinky" and "filthy" and told them "they would never see their children again" and "their families would not exist anymore".

One father committed suicide when his 3 year old was torn from his arms. Another father had his 15 day old baby taken from him.

Migrants who tried to cross the border at the ports of entry were blocked by Federal workers and told they could not pass into the U.S. to ask for asylum even though it is illegal to deny asylum requests.

Some residents in Oregon who had spent time in Japanese internment camps are being retraumatized by the mistreatment of migrants and Trump's plan to create permanent internment aka detainment camps for asylum seekers.

Trump's policy is in violation of due process, asylum laws, equal protection, etc.

17 states and Washington DC have filed a lawsuit against Donald Trump’s family separation policy.

The above was a summary of the 128 page complaint that they filed. Yes, I read it.

The judge gave a deadline to return the children to their parents but Trump (yes, the buck stops with him) incompetently mismanaged record keeping. Anyone surprised?

Trump should be locked up for contempt of court if he cannot comply with the judge's order to fix this mess that he created.

The reason certain government workers aren't allowed to touch children and have to wait for people who work in the field is to avoid charges of child abuse for instance.

If a father committed suicide because he put himself in a situation where he had to go to jail and be temporarily separated from his child, then he's a selfish idiot, the scum of the Earth.

If you want to ask for asylum you should come through the front door not try to enter illegally. Once they are caught trying to enter illegally, they claim they want asylum. Almost all the time this is just complete bullshit.

Trump's policy is not in violation of anything.

Trump didn't create this "mess".

Only a sociopath would advocate torturing young children. There is no justification for an evil and immoral act which has already been denounced by religious leaders of all faiths and by most people in and outside of the U.S.

You are repeating Trump's propaganda almost verbatim instead of opening your mind and clicking on the source that I had already provided in my OP. It is a detailed 128 page complaint complete with evidence, documentation as well as sections of law that Trump is in violation.

BTW, your feeble denials don't alter reality. Read the complaint and maybe it'll wake you from your stupor.

Except decency and humanity, but we can't expect you to understand decency when you call a stranger driven to suicide "scum" even though you have no clue what that person went through or was thinking.

Seeking asylum is not legal. They must apply to Mexico first. And without illegally immigrating first because that is a crime that Mexico punishes severely.

But you are hiding something. Otherwise asylum requests could simply be rejected and that is clearly not what you are after.

Seeking asylum is always legal. It can be denied later by a judge, but the actual request is ALWAYS legal under both domestic and international law.

8 U.S. Code § 1158 (a) (1)
Any alien who is physically present in the United States or who arrives in the United States (whether or not at a designated port of arrival and including an alien who is brought to the United States after having been interdicted in international or United States waters), irrespective of such alien’s status, may apply for asylum in accordance with this section or, where applicable, section 1225(b) of this title.

International Law:
Domestic law is grounded in widely-accepted international standards, starting with Article 14 of the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Article 27 of the 1948 American Declaration of the Rights and Duties of Man, and continuing with the 1951 U.N. Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees.

As stated by the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees ‘‘refugees should not be penalized for their illegal entry or stay… the seeking of asylum can require refugees to breach immigration rules. Prohibited penalties might include being charged with immigration or criminal offenses relating to the seeking of asylum, or being arbitrarily detained purely on the basis of seeking asylum.’’

You fail to mention that there are still rules and a process that needs to be adhered to. Also, simply wanting to leave your country for a better one is NOT grounds to seek asylum. There are specific perimeters that allow the exception.

Exactly! I'm all for legal immigration. My father is a legal immigrant. They were dirt poor and came here for a better life - legally. Applying for asylum because you don't like your country is abusing the system.

Rules that the U.S. must adhere to also including not purposely preventing asylum seekers from entering the ports of entry which is clearly illegal.

The U.S. government has been aware of the safety issues the asylum seekers are facing when there was a huge demographic jump from Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras started a few years ago. That's common knowledge except for Fox viewers and the idiot in the White House who apparently doesn't read his briefs each morning.
