Conservative-turned-liberal talk host Ed Shultz has passed away
Ed Shultz, who was best known to television viewers hosting "The Ed Show" each night on MSNBC (2009-2015) passed away yesterday from 'natural causes' at his Washington, DC residence at 64 years old. His step daughter said he had a medical condition which effected his heart back in June, and never fully recovered.
Schultz first started out in Fargo, ND as a sports announcer, then moved over to conservative radio talk show host in the 90s, as a registered Republican. He later said in an interview that he changed his party allegiance to liberal Democrat in 1998, after doing a story on homeless people and their survival.
After those first two decades, he moved over to MSNBC where he was tapped to host "The Ed Show" in 2009. He focused on a progressive show, pushing universal healthcare issues and labor issues to the front of the line. He was let go in 2015, when the network decided to clean house , letting go their 'lower rated' performers that year, gearing up for the 2016 election.
Schultz landed at RT America six months later, hosting a talk show there and doing a daily podcast, “Ed Schultz News and Commentary.”
He once again leaned more conservative, supporting T-rump and his relationship with Putin in the past year, though he maintained he was a supporter of Bernie Sanders and hoped Sanders would run again in 2020.
