Whoops! Ivanka did it again!!

Me thinks Ivanka should stay far away from Twitter - and the outside world, for that matter - when she wants to impress and appear to be intelligent.

On the first day of Black History Month, Presidential adviser Idiotvanka tweeted this heartfelt message to her people:

“During #BlackHistoryMonth, we celebrate heroes like Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who were sojourners for freedom — and we resolve to continue to bring greater, equality, dignity, and opportunity to all Americans, regardless of race or background.”

Before you could say "What the heck?" a backlash of Tweets followed, questioning the President's daughter if she actually ever met her father, one of the most proud public racist of all time. Aside from reminding her of being complicit in her father's racist agenda, others wondered the following:

1. Does she know what 'sojourner' actually means?
2. Does she realize her father referred to white supremacists as 'very fine people'?
3. Did she really make Black History Month about ALL Americans?
4. Does she realize her father's entire campaign and agenda is based on race and background?

First Lady Melania's Tweet was similar, and met with a similar backlash:

"Today marks the start of #BlackHistoryMonth Let this be a time to come together in a celebration of diversity."

Which garnered a series of tweets asking:

1. Have you met your husband?
2. Don't you mean homogeneity and not diversity?
3. You mean come together and build a wall in celebration of homogeneity?

You just can't make this stuff up, folks! This 'winning' is tiring us all out.

Neither of those women are very bright.

She also skipped over the part where her father believed our only black president was illegitimate because:
1) he was not born in the US, and
2) he did not win the popular vote in 2012.

But oh yeah, those Trumps are all about black history month.

ivanka, a beautiful girl

Seriously, what difference does it make to the lives of everyday black Americans?

As the actor Morgan Freeman said about Black History month, "It's ridiculous. You are going to relegate my history to a month? Which month is White History Month? Black History is American History."

Why does it matter what some rich, privileged white women tweet about?

And as far as Ivanka Trump tweeting..."and we resolve to bring greater, equality, dignity..." Well if that's exactly how she tweeted it, she lost me with that comma between greater and equality! LOL Someone who can't punctuate properly isn't someone I look to as a leader.
Besides, equality is an absolute. How can you be "more" equal? Either you are equal or you aren't. And I don't think Ivanka's tweeting or her "public policies" will change things.

I forget which comedian said it, but one time I heard a black comedian say, "Notice how they gave us February? The shortest month!"

Seriously, most people of any race have more to concern themselves with than Ivanka's well meaning but vapid tweets.

And by the way, she was probably thinking of Sojourner Truth when she used the phrase "sojourners for freedom". She probably thought it had something to do with being black!

I can't speak for Black Americans, but judging by the backlash she and Melania got for those tweets - it makes quite a difference. They found it rather insulting.

"Why does it matter what some rich, privileged white women tweet about?"

Inexperienced, privileged and rich as she is, she's the Presidential adviser, and works for the American people - all American people of every race. She carries some clout and needs to be much more responsible with any of her public statements. Best that she not say anything at all, rather than say something so insulting.

Hillary could really have done with that advice a year and a half ago!

reply

Maybe, but that was eighteen months ago. That was the past. She was not in the White House in any capacity.

This is the present - with Ivanka Trump, Presidential Adviser, and her insulting tweet. Best she not say anything at all.

Like Stonetear did about the email server?

I don't know what was in Ivanka's mind when she tweeted, but yes sometimes it's better to not say anything than to sound so patronizing.

A thing about living in a wealthy, privileged bubble, people like that, including the powerful in Washington, come across as condescending. I usually don't pay much attention to what they say. I feel like I am being talked down to.

I don't think she deliberately meant to insult anybody, but when the people in positions of power use the royal "we", as in "we all have to work together", blah, blah, I tune OUT. I know how to behave! Don't need advice from the rich and powerful.

"They"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I bet you call yourself a crusader for racial equality.

reply

"Why does it matter what some rich, privileged white women tweet about?"

Which is why it will blow over very quickly and be forgotten.

reply

Forgot about those! Good catch!
