Spencer to premiere at the Venice Film Festival & show at Telluride & TIFF. The film will open on Nov. 5th

Spencer, Pablo Larrain's high-anticipated drama starring Kristen Stewart as Lady Diana, will world premiere in competition at the Venice Film Festival, Variety has learned.
----------
Neon and Topic Studios have jointly acquired the U.S. rights to the movie in June 2020. The film is expected to be an Oscar contender.

Well, isn't this some interesting news.
So let's see, the Venice Film Festival is scheduled to begin on September 1st.
Kristen's next film, Crimes of the Future, is scheduled to start filming in Greece in August.
That seems pretty convenient.

Of course, that assumes that all goes well and that there won't be any delays due to the current increase of Covid-19 cases in Europe.
One of the reasons I mention Covid is because Lea Seydoux, one of the stars in Crimes of the Future, had to miss the recent premiere of her film, The French Dispatch, at the Cannes Film Festival because she came down with Covid.
Hopefully this news won't affect her being cast in Crimes of the Future or the timing of production of the film.

So here's hoping for the best.
Oh yeah, I wonder whether Spencer will also get a showing at the Toronto International Film Festival.
I also wonder how TIFF will be run, due to the very restrictive travel limitations that the Canadian government has imposed due to
Covid-19.

The poster for Spencer was released yesterday (8/25) ...

Nice. Different, but nice. And also, quite intriguing.

In addition, according to Variety, a trailer for the film showed at the CinemaCon convention in Las Vegas.
Said trailer has not yet been made available to the general public.

Only eight more days until the film's premiere at the Venice Film Festival on Friday, September 3rd.

OK, the official teaser trailer for Spencer has just been released ...

Kristen says exactly two words ... "They don't," but it seems to me that she's got Diana's accent down pat.
I've got to add however that her face seems so gaunt.
I hope that this was intentionally done by the filmmakers.

Btw, this is definitely not the clip of the film that was shown at the CinemaCon convention in Las Vegas.
This is just a teaser trailer for us mortals. Something to whet our appetites, so to speak.
That being said, I do hope that they will release that film clip sometime soon.

Nice, can't wait to see the reviews.

I saw the teaser clip earlier. Kristen seems to have the accent down quite nicely, and in some pics looks a lot like Diana.

The official poster shows her crying as does part of the teaser. I assume then there will be a lot of emotional issues as part of the story. That said, I think I read somewhere about Prince Charles and Camilla having an affair being part of the story, though not certain of that.

OK, forget what I previously wrote about Spencer having its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 15th, because the film will also be showing at the Telluride Film Festival which runs from Thursday, September 2nd through Monday, September 6th.

Other Venice world premieres heading for their North American premieres in Telluride are Paul Schrader's The Card Counter and Pablo Larrain's much-awaited Princess Diana film Spencer starring Kristen Stewart.

WOW! So that's three prestigious film festivals that Spencer will be showing at. NEON and Topic are sure going all out to promote this film.

I know that Kristen will be walking the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival when Spencer premieres on Friday, September 3rd, as well as making a virtual appearance at Toronto. I can't imagine that she'll also appear in person at Telluride, but perhaps another virtual appearance there is in the offing.

Oh yeah, for personal reasons, I would love to see Spencer play at Telluride on either Sunday, September 5th or Labor Day, September 6th, because it was on Labor Day, September 5, 2005, when I first saw Speak, the film that made me a fan of Kristen, when it had its television premiere on Showtime (and Lifetime). Hard to believe that its been 16 years.

EDIT: I just read the Telluride Film Festival program, and found that Spencer will be having four showings ...
Sat. 1PM; Sat. 6:45PM; Sun. 10PM; Mon. 9:15AM
In addition, both Pablo Larrain and Kristen will be there.

You can access the program by first clicking the Film Stage link I provided, then scroll down to the bottom and click the word, here where it says, "See the full lineup here."
Once you've arrived at the Telluride page, scroll down and once again click the word, here where it says, "Download the 48th Telluride Film Festival Program here."

Among other things, you will read ...
"The film's power emerges directly from the fearless and deeply committed performance of Kristen Stewart, imagining Diana mercurial and haunted ..."

"Fearless and deeply committed performance" -- strong words, indeed.

So there you have it. First there's Venice on Friday, September 3rd followed by Telluride on Saturday, September 4th.
I wonder whether Kristen will then have to go back to Greece to finish working on David Cronenberg's Crimes of the Future, or have her scenes already been filmed?

Nice, some pics and videos will be nice. And I think she's gotten past her dislike of being all glammed up. :)

Speak is a great film, emotional and tough content but so well done. Telluride is a long road trip from Florida though! :)
Panic Room was when I first saw Kristen, took notice of a gritty and mature performance by a young actor.
