Why Does M. Night Shyamalan Always Make Cameo Appearances In His Own Movies?
Is he so conceited that he has to appear in every one of his movies?
shareIs he so conceited that he has to appear in every one of his movies?
sharePerhaps for the same reason that Hitchcock and Stan Lee does.
shareJust a bit of fun, perhaps.
shareHe certainly comes across as conceited, at least in my eyes. I don't think there's anything wrong with directors doing cameos but in Shy's case he really injects himself as a key character, not just some random background guy. Peter Jackson is the same way in the Lord of the Rings' appearances.
shareI paraphrase the line from A-Team:
I'm a gonna write it. I'm a gonna sign it.
(Or in this case show up in it.)
