Just discovered him

Don't miss Far From the Madding Crowd. It may be a remake but think it is far superior to the original, especially Matthias's Oak. Really amazing the intensity of his portrayal. Another film to watch out for is The Big Splash with Tilda Swinton. Also a film called Disorder. Am so looking forward too to seeing these new films.

Bullhead (Rundskop in Dutch) is a very bleak movie about the hormonemaffia in Flanders (Belgium), an item that has been very actual years ago, not everybody's cup of tea but it brought Matthias' amazing performance under the attention of Hollywood.
Rust and Bone is a must see. There was a lot of talk about Marion Cotillard who was of course very good but IMHO Matthias stole the show.
The Drop with Tom Hardy is a good film too. The director is the same one who made Bullhead. Matthias played a good supporting role and it was also Gandolfini's last movie before he died.
I was very pleased with Far From The Madding Crowd. Very good performances from all actors. Matthias played a beautiful part, not the rough one he has become famous for.
Haven't seen but want to see Maryland. It's about a soldier with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Matthias has told in an interview that he has gone very deep for this part. In fact, too deep. He didn't sleep anymore, had issues shedding the role afterwards. It was a warning for him not to cross his own personal borders. Interesting!

Love him! Just discovered him as well- A Little Chaos and Far From.... became available on HBO recently, and now I've watched Rust and Bone...a great actor with great screen presence. Looking forward to seeing more of him!

Just watched him in Pulsar and de President. Both completely different but great acting! Loved them

I just discovered him as well! Saw Far From The Madding Crowd! Spectacular, just his presence alone, dear Lord! I will be watching many of his movies to see what he's about!

You should watch Bullhead, Rust and Bone, The Drop, Left Bank and My Queen Karo, Matthias was great in those movies.
