I don't get the appeal (nor the hype?)

Watched a few of his shows, and I don't see what all the fuss is about?
I don't dislike the guy, but any episode that approaches anything even remotely 'deep', usually revolves around the 'guest' (and not the 'host') and nine times out of ten, Rogan usually 'parrots' the opinions of his guests.

Yet the hype around Rogan is that he"s this controversial, revelatory figure. He comes across as a bit of a (try-hard) stoner?

Ever since Trump was dumped by the electorate, Joe has filled in the mental landscape of people who need the authoritarian dogwhistle to ease their sorrowsalso, I like how Joe shaved his head to look more MMAish, as well as an attempt to dispel his uncanny resemblance to Carlos Mencia.

There is a subset of both the left and the right that view allowing anyone with opposing ideas to express their opinions is in itself controversial.

Cancel culture and labelling ideas you don't agree with as "hate speech" in order to silence people is a good example, in general.

A specific example would be like calling someone who points out obesity is unhealthy as "fatphobic." No, they're not fatphobic. No, they're not "body shaming." They're pointing out objective facts. But in the minds of many, this is controversial.

What we have with Rogan is someone who allows his guests to speak their opinions. When many disagree with those opinions, they want him silenced and will claim he is controversial and dangerous. As you see, it's mostly unjustified, as you say he's "fuss-free."
