He makes beautifully shot movies that say nothing

He is such a vapid director, all flash and no substance. His dialogue in particular is downright bad. He does great when it comes to the visuals and even the music but his movies have nothing beneath that surface. Very pretentious.

I agree. He aspires to make films that are visually beautiful but make no sense. He should probably make music videos. There are plenty of directors that do this better. Terrance Mallick, Stanley Kubrick, David Lynch.
