I'm in love with Al Swearengen!

Help me, I have a huge crush on this guy! I think Ian McShane's a great actor-loved him in "Lovejoy" and other projects, but it's his portrayal of Al that has got me all hot and bothered.

This man is so incredibly sexy! Those dark, brooding looks, that VOICE! Sigh. Even his cursing doesn't bother me because he's so damn cool. The man projects such power- he's downright scary at times. But what really makes him attractive is that even though he's so frightening and murderous, there's a sweet side to him. Those few times when he shows softness and kindess- such a turn on!!!! Come on, who wouldn't love a guy who nicely tells one of his hookers who's afraid she's contracted smallpox: "If you want, you can stick to hand jobs for a few days."

He's so funny, too. Remember at the trial for the killer of Hickock, it's going really slow and all of a sudden he says to Dan: "December."

Dan: "What?"

Al: "We're gonna be here til *beep* December!"

His impatient ways with E.B. are really funny, too.

Ahhh yes - he is a handsome, intelligent, and rather charming seller of women, mysoginist, murderer, bigot, and all 'round scoundrel, isn't he! - LOL!!!

Now, I'm hoping that most of the women who posted in agreement to this thread are, say, 20 years old or younger and with little to no experience with men - if not, than what the heck are ya thinkin'?!?

Swearengen is the perfect example of why so many broads get into relationships or fall in love with the "brooding baddie" and yet claim they wish they could find the ideal understanding male! Dames - ya can't have it both ways, so take yer pick!

Beleive me - I can see why the crushes exist (he's damned sexy, and that voice does melt butter, right?), but I cannot for the life of me understand why any woman in her right mind would ever place someone like Swearengen onto a pedastal as an ideal man and fall for him - Whaddaya have? A deathwish or somethin'?

This post is mostly a silly one, so don't get too uppity, but there is some serious thinkin' I'd like to see one or two of the women professing their love for this man do just to save 'em from kooky and confused ideals.

Remember - If it walks like a duck and it walks like a duck, chances are ya got a duck on yer hands! and the "duck" in this case is a rather dangerous and mysoginistic man!

Here's what not to do -DON'T go cryin' to anyone if you find yourself on the crap end of a stick if you've chosen a man like this for the wrong reasons and you have a black eye or you've been sold to the nearest gold prospector for a discounted 15 cent screw! Too many people do it, and it makes no sense! LOL!
